Its crazy that I see this question now. Last night was the episode of "Red Dwarf" where the crew goes to a parallel universe because of Holly, they get there and see their ship in this universe and when they get in, they meet themselves, Lister and Rimmer in the parallel universe happen to have opposite the original Lister and Rimmer sex organs. Long story short Lister fucks his parallel self and ends up pregnant as the man lol. Parallel Cat was in fact a dog.

Basically I would do me in another time if I ended up being a female in that time, not the me of now though, that would be gay, because I am a guy and I don't think me fucking me in the ass could ever be considered straight. But some how looking at Lister 1 and Lister 2 waking up to find themselves hung over and bottomless just doesn't seem gay at all, the only thing was they did look similar, but I would have got down with the lady who played Lister.

Naw, being gay means you are attracted to the other person. In love, even. What were those things on the SAT called where you had to make associations? Being gay is like being married, while fucking someone of the same sex on a fling is like meeting someone at a bar, going home with them and then never talking to that person again.

I think having sex with yourself (via time travel or some such method) would be just like masturbation and wouldn't mean that you were gay.

David Gerrold described just such a scene in his novel The Man Who Folded Himself (the verb in that title is not a new sex technique, it is how time travel brought him to slightly different parallel universes so he kept meeting slightly different versions of himself). The protagonist has sex with other variations of himself... but he also meets a female version of himself and has sex with her. Uh... David Gerrold is openly gay. I've not read the book since I was in college (too frickin' long ago) so I won't try to recount any details here nor to try to analyze if the authors sexual orientation has any particular influence on the plot.

As a thought-experiment I could imagine meeting myself via time travel and could imagine having sex with myself but I wouldn't take that to mean I was actually a lesbian, it would merely mean that I have a good imagination and I think performing oral sex on myself might be really hot. I would not take that fantasy further to imagine my husband joining us. No, I will not think about that. I will not! (oooo, steamy!)
