A New Earth is in essence about a positive shift in the collective consciousness of humanity catalyzed by the transcendence of our illusory identification with separative identity. Jhamerimaka said the book would be "nothing new to anyone who has a sense of what is wrong with societies' mindset". I was simply pointing out that having a sense of what is wrong with societies' mindset and understanding the true message of A New Earth are by no means mutually inclusive. Travis
Oprah plays to the ignorant person in this country that would rather get their news/ideas on issues from a biased sales person (Oprah) who is not even very bright on what she is talking about, over actually finding out for themselves through various legitimate avenues. You didnt even know she was a billionaire and yet you defend her so avidley and say I dont know what im talking about. Your just another Oprah zealot who is mindlessly defending your tv-god-queen. She sells stuff to ignorant suckers who think she is all-knowing because nobody will call her out as the fraud she is because she will sick her mob of ignorant tv-watchers on whomever tells the truth about her.
Oh, that was just based on an intuition/deduction combo that I had. If you look at the opening sentence of Austinn's initial post, you'll see it begins with "my mother watches that detestable Oprah show like a bee to honey", etc., etc. When I read that, the first thing that popped into my mind was that the frustration and anger that fuels Austinn's disdain for Oprah actually stems from his relationship to his mother. Due to the fact that she's an Oprah fan, he has diverted the hostilities that originated with his mother towards Oprah. This is compounded of course by his aforementioned conformist mentality, which he is incapable of acknowledging in himself and must therefore fixate upon in others (in this case, the conformity of Oprah's more fanatical viewers). How can it be rectified? A little perspective would no doubt do the trick. You may notice that all of Austinn's posts in this thread are essentially embittered, pedantic tirades. He simply has to overcome this myopic, tunnel-visioned outlook on life. He must realize that the type of cynicism that characterizes his posts usually arises from an underlying sense of discontent with life, and is in essence unrelated to the subject matter that it pertains to. LOOK EVIDENCE OF SUCCESSFULL HIPFORUMS OPRAH PROTEST THREAD ALREADY!!!!!!!!= http://www.tmz.com/2008/04/10/oprah-to-obama-youre-bringin-me-down/ Oprah to Obama -- You're Bringin' Me Down! Posted Apr 10th 2008 11:17AM by TMZ Staff Is Brad Pitt's 9th cousin to blame for Oprah's decline? Recent polls are showing that the empress of daytime's Obama endorsement have been good for him, but totally effed her up! A poll taken in February of last year, prior to the Big O's decision to back her home state Senator, found that 74% of Americans had a favorable view of the talk show queen. Another poll taken several months after her endorsement, show Oprah's rating to have plunged to 61%. Oprah's big give indeed. The big kicker was last month's AOL poll that revealed that 46% of Americans found Ellen to be the daytime host who "made their day" over Oprah's measly 19%. The same poll found 47% wanted to break bread with Ellen while only 14% wanted to dine with Oprah. And Oprah's got all those fancy chefs working for her!
Hello Austinn. My dad used to be angered and frustrated with our brother's gambling . He is out almost every night and even though he has a good job as a sales Rep, and in some debt because of loans and stuff he shrugs everything off that he is fine and to leave him alone. My dad was at the end of his tether, I told him it's his life and what he does with his money is up to him because we have tried to get him to see loads of times. One time my dad has got to the stage of embitterment because of his concern for our brother that when me and my other friend used to go to bingo on a saturday night and sometimes wednesday, that he became hostile to us and his rants and yells about how all gambling was problem and should have been banned. I made my dad realize his bitterment came from not accepting my brother chosen to gamble, and that gambling is not the problem and can be fun, and it's just that people come here on Earth to learn something. In my brother's case, this time round in the physical dimension it's realizing whether money, prestige, power and material wealth will bring him satisfaction. So, Austinn, allow for this realization that your mother is also on a learning journey maybe as to whether worshipping another will bring her satisfaction. Live your life as you feel fit and learn to accept this if you can't make her realize Oprah is no Idol.
well even if oprah gets dumped the ego dominating mindset will replace her with another idolizing personality queen for mums all over to get free gifts...
