I've decided, given that I tend to read too many books at once, to select 5 books at a time to read --- in a healthy balance of topics.

Reading one book at a time is impossible for me, but my wiliness was quickly becoming unsustainable.

    How's my solution?

well, what's wrong with the way you were doing it before?
I often feel like people feel pressured to read, and when they do they think they have an obligation to be committed to one book until they finish it. I tend to read several books at once, unless it's someone like Knut Hamsun or Dostoevsky and I focus in.

My library is getting out of hand with books that I haven't finished. And it keeps growing. Disgusting.

I want to sell 4/5 of my books anyway.

pffff I haven't read a book for pleasure in months.. just school books.. there just isn't time or space in my mind for a book to read for my own interest right now. it makes me very sad, I miss the feeling of getting lost in a book I love a lot.

I usually read two or three books at once. I don't really read for pleasure, though, and I don't even waste my time with fictional works anymore. I usually read on average two books per week (when I have the time).

I read at least 5 books at a time. There is no solution. It's addiction. And a very good one at that. :D

I have a hard time reading several books at once, though.. unless it's non-fiction.. it's like watching several movies at once.. doesn't work for me.

5 Books at once? And that's tamed down? Holy smokes.

I was riding my bike back from the bank today, and I stopped by the library to pay off my debts. I get to start reading again. Hooray.

I tell ya though, my town's library is full of bitchy librarians. I've been scared of them since I was knee high to a grasshopper. I usually end up renting 5 books at a time...but they get read one after another....and brought back LATE. Aargh.

My wife would be doing good to bring it down to 5 books. Man, what a dream that would be. No more tripping over books, no more books falling down on me when opening a cupbard, no more books following me into the shower, no more books threatening me with knives.

My mom has this huge library of books, and she usually gives them away after reading. If you're at her house looking at a book she'll tell you to keep it. Pass it on.

I do the same thing to an extent. Mostly I like to borrow/rent books, and buy the ones that are important to me or i'll read again.

I'm currently reading 3 books at once, which is a very low number for me.

I just like to read Vonnegut over the summer, and it's impossible to put his books down.

How in the world do you find the time to read so much? I once did nothing but read. i had no family, no job, lived on the road and had no cable TV. It was read or play checkers.

Ain't got too many obligations when you're young.

The second I get off work, I'm a free man... I could sit and read for 8 hours, taking breaks to cook a meal or two, if I wished.

Ahh, the lazy sundried afternoons of life.
