not so odd as you'd think, Nesta. Definitely not snake oil, these are the places I went with meditation before I went there with enthenogens. discrete dimensions, offsets, varying only by the vibrations, like different colors of light. could a dweller in 'red' see the world of 'orange' without shifting their perception?
had to quote this lol yeah, thinking about it; you're 100% right that starting off with a small dose is what he should do. since it only lasts for, lets even go as far as to say 20 min, if he wants to do more after its not like you have to wait to do it again. i wouldn't say i'm a better man cause i use 80x, i think stupid fits much better. most of the trips i have aren't good(most are weird, unsettling, and some are disconected to the point that even during the trip i don't understand), but few of them now are what i would call bad. the time spent in the trip is the side effect to me, sorta like how the visuals are a side effect of shrooms
yeah, we're all looking out for the guy, which I'm sure is pretty reassuring for him. lol. And yeah, that's pretty much the point I was going with was get him started a bit at a time. But this kinda adds credence to the theory that 90% of the problems between people is simple miscommunication. lol yeah, there's the difference, is you do it for the afterglow, which I totally respect, totally valid way to use, especially if she doesn't whip you around too much...lol
one of the other most significant events in my spiritual development was experiencing the complete void and ego death during a deeply meditative state. this was when i was 13 or 14, long before even smoking pot... it was not reached intentionally, but was, in my mind at the time, unimaginably beautiful. conditions simply were perfect for my mind to naturally progress to such a state....completely different from normal reality. since then i've had other significant experiences with meditation.... but yeah, all of this together definately makes me believe there are many things which science cannot explain, and a spiritual side to the world which we may come into knowledge of through nonscientific means.....
Nesta, I'm going to, at some point, see if I can't go back to some of the discrete alternate realities through meditation rather than medication. I've posted a recount of my first actual trip with this herb under the salvia experience thread. http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4373681&postcount=57 Ego death and void...and about the same age as mine, Nesta. That kind of stuff shakes you a bit, doesn't it? Mine was from doing mind expanding meditations, and one day I looked down and said 'holy shit. it's all a shadowplay, isn't it?'
I have a question? Music and salvia? From what you guys say, music might not even be recognizable, but I'm just sortof curious.
when I was on salvia I could recognize outside sounds like my friends talking to me but I was totally unable to be visually aware of my surroundings, I was laying down on a couch with my eyes closed the whole time.
It's not uncommon in trips for music to be unrecognizable, and it's also not uncommon for the music selection to alter the mindscape, rather like your brain incorporating sounds into sleep. Your mind, your subconcious can still hear/perceive the sounds/music, so depending on your choice of tunes, it could make a difference. Your milage might vary, but I've known people to have trips based entirely on their choice of tunes, and then the next trip the music's an annoying intrustion, or at worst, a sour note in the trip. Same with lighting. It's why a lot of people opt for dark and quiet. I'll usually take the risk with music, but it's usually something like enigma, or classical, played at a moderately low volume. (salvia can heighten the senses, especially if your senses are abnormally keen to start with)
The first time i did salvia, we were listening to radiohead - karma police. i remember i felt like i was in a completely different dimension. The part in the song "For a minute there, I lost myself..." kept repeating in the trip. There was a vast crowd of beings who were all speaking to me (they were the background voices towards the end of the song), and it felt like they were all waiting for me to do something, but i refused to do it, and it just felt like the reality that i know was a big lie. my friend told me that I walked up to my front door and made some weird hand movements. I'm definitely not gonna touch that shit again.
yeah, the feeling of reality being a big lie or a total sham is a pretty common theme in salvia trips. Sally's not for everybody.
lol this is all kinda weird...i feel like my salvia trip is so insignificant from all these others i tripped and i sank into a couch into a bread factory where i was baked into a loaf and my face was a slice of a banana. if anything the trip was silly and uplifting. i came out completely happy and giggly
Salvia smokes like shit, but when I got some it was really fucking cool. Just makes sure you keep the smoke in as long as you can. And get a bunch in. I had to smoke a bunch in a short amount of time for it to work.
