whats the difference between a lucid dream and astral projection? if there is one...how can you tell one from the other
That entirely depends on you. Whatever you truly believe is the actual answer - that's what you'll find. If you're looking for cool ways to look at it, then... They are different energetic levels, or planes. Astral generally means energy bodies of some sort, while dreams, lucid or not are often actual physical bodies - 1st, 2 & 3rd person views. It's not often that astral projection results in a world where you can pinch yourself and feel pain, or read a book. That's a general idea, anyway. There are all sorts of cool ways of embellishing this depending on what you have actually experienced that would tailor the answer to what you've experienced (which is what a lot of what you believe is based on - see the mirroring?). Hope this helps!
I think the only difference between lucid dreaming and astral travel are just the words used... I tend to not agree with other views on this simply because I have seen no difference between the two. Of all the dreams I've had only one stands apart from the rest due to the occurrence of physical injuries. Aside from that fact all my dreams have been visually the same. This has lead me to believe that all dreams are astral travels... People just don't get hurt from lucid dreaming... OBE's, on the other hand, normally occur in a waking state and are a form of astral travel in which ones consciousness/spirit/astral body is projected while still being actively aware of ones physical body. I hope this has helped someone, somewhere... ---------------- Now playing: Boards Of Canada - June 9th via FoxyTunes
:cheers2: Thanx for the clarification. But I am now confused If people Don't get hurt from lucid/astral dreaming, then what type of dream did you have when you got hurt?
Astral, because there's never been a case of physical injury from lucid dreaming. Sorry that I worded my post badly. I believe that someone (Celia Elizabeth Green, an admitted skeptic) came up with the term lucid dreaming to deny the spiritual aspect of dreams. It seems that many of the sciences try their hardest to deny or debunk any form of spirituality. ---------------- Now playing: Booka Shade - Around You (Quiet)
when you say you get hurt in the astral, do you mean just in the astral or when you wake up you have found actual injuries?
I received a broken shoulder via battle axe from a 3 story tall demon. I know it may sound preposterous, but that's what happened. There is no scientific explanation for the wound. It took nearly a year for it to heal enough that it didn't cause me constant pain. It'll never be the same. ---------------- Now playing: Booka Shade - Night Falls
Ya' know, I'm not exactly sure... What I do know is that when someone is in trouble I often am called to their aid. I think thus is what happened that night, being that there were other people there on the ground doing something...they felt wiccan... I was to busy to pay attention. I would like to undergo hypnosis and find out what all transpired... just in case. And it's not that I normally fight beings such as that one... most leave me alone and/or do as I ask, for many intelligent beings are rather reasonable. Then again, maybe he just didn't like the length of my sword or the color of my feathers... who knows... Some may call me crazy or say that I'm making all this up... I hope those that do never need my help... for I'd be hard pressed to assist those that scorn and shun me. ---------------- Now playing: Black Lung - Subservient
...reminds me of my 'dark chinese army' dreams ... like there's a war going on in the astral planes. I remember one of them particularly ... I and a group of others were cornered on an island surrounded by water. On the far bank from the rooftops of some buildings the dark archers were raining down arrows on us and our own arrows seemed pathetic in comparison ... like firing little pins which wouldn't fly. The situation was desparate and i looked around; there was a stone with two swords stuck in it, ... one sword was a straight excaliber type and the other had a serpentine curvy blade. I pulled one out but i don't know which! Anyway it was all over and i woke up. Another dream saw me in a dark forest fending off bandits/assassins. we were leaping about in the branches firing bolts of chi at eachother. I managed to fend them off and make my way to the edge of the forest where there were green fields and sunshine. Interestingly i had a dream around about the same time where a young chinese woman asked me to get her a sword. ...? Other dreams have seen me sneaking around some secret Nazi base looking for stuff and trying not to get caught. Luckily i never got caught! But anyway, i agree with Nivekian ... it's all astral. Lucid or not so lucid.
I have had very similar dreams, mayhaps we've met? A few dreams such as these I've attributed to past lives, because everything about them were to period, clothes, vehicles, weapons, everything!
doh i lost my post..i'm sick...i'm going to shop be back soon with many questions i wanna be a astral warrior and stop the baddies too
well you guys seem to know what your doing and all, so when its not about past lifes and stuff, these other beings you fight, are they sent from humans? like black magicians? or are they real beings from another dimension that just try to stop humans reaching higher levels of knowledge and existance?
I think they are a whole load of things but in my mind the term 'thought form' sums them up, whether unique to yourself or collective. Monsters created by thought and belief. ... little stubborn gods of this and that. When our antennae are out and we are listening and searching we link into the minds of others and kind of 'astral counterparts' of people ...the part of them we meet. A very good shaman once introduced me to my 'spiritual self' whom he described as a 'martial arts type guy' ... kind of samurai but with a staff ...this may be why i often seemed to be fighting these dark chinese types perhaps? It seems there is a part of my inner worlds which is like 'the water margin' in 3D! Our ego is unconcious and we meet it in many forms in our dreams i think and i do think there are 'troublesome' people out there ie, black magicians .. or rather just rather psychic and powerful, self rightious and controling people who simply want to play god/goddess and their egos get well involved with it all. When it comes to sensing any 'other' which feels to be pulling you down and spinning illusion ...when it comes to dreams of fighting (or just getting away from) 'real' dark forces and getting somewhat taken up in it all ..all the astral and also physical illusion you gotta know/remember that you ARE god/goddess, always equal, always safe, and these beings, archetypes and thought forms are just more or the play of creation. It's you that decides your fate, you that hides stuff from yourself, cast off other peoples ideas of you and indeed your own. It's so hard to be fearless in knowing that you are 'safe in the mother' ... pure eternal awareness, love. I heard a corny but nice line in a film recently (chinese!) "The warrior can die but can never be defeated." ...so with regards to any battles or 'going undercover' on the inner planes...it's worth remembering To live fearlessly but modestly and equal, not being afraid to be as love would be really needs a close listening within and staying there takes some effort. We are all innocent. jesus said 'cast off your guilt and shame'. I agree. It hard i admit
Yeah i've had a few WW2 type dreams other than the nazi base snooping ones. A couple involved coordinating and getting men to airfields to their planes via the local police/police station. One involved spitfires ready to go on airfields outside Dartmouth but guys in Totnes who needed getting there during a surprise air attack and another saw spitfires in Totnes needing transporting to airfields near dartmouth. Now my family has lived in the Totnes/Dartmouth area for a long time and i wonder if im dreaming some local or ancestral memory/knowledge ...there were airfields near dartmouth and train and river links at totnes would make the need of spitfires transporting to dartmouth feasable. Always quite vivid dreams those but im no lucid dreamer as such. Another dream i was in a squad who were searching a factory and a guy next to me was shot in the head by a sniper. Anyway, go figure!
I find lucid dreaming a useful concept, regardless of origins. There is a definite demarcation between ordinary dreams and dreams where you know you are dreaming; putting a label on it helps talk about it. I would like to hear more about your consideration of astral experiences and dreams. Do you feel there are any meaningful gradients in astral experiences (besides can cause injury/cannot cause injury (very interesting story, BTW) ). There are dreams where I know it's taking place in a temporary space, and dreams where I know it's in another reality and dreams where I know it's in some permanent 'astral' space and dreams where I have no clue or don't even think about it. Do you feel there is any meaningful difference between dreams that you project the space and actors in vs.dreams interacting with other consciousness? Do you feel that all or only some of our dreams involve such interaction? Are there any categories or patterns you have picked up dealing with the nature of astral space? Have you seen any patterns of reaction to you actions in different types of context? Namaste, moonchilde
Weeee! I'm not all too sure about where to draw the lines... I don't think anyone is, which is one of the reasons these experiences are controversial and hold so much mystery. As far as I can tell, in all of my dreams I am interacting with beings other than aspects of my own psyche. It's constantly confirmed through various ways, such as interactions with people in my waking life and stories in the news. Not sure what you're asking, but I do know that there are many realms to the astral planes and you have to travel through some to get to others. Also that many things are portals to other places, I have used things such as pictures hung on walls, tv sets, windows etc. to get from one realm to another. Usually because I had to leave in a hurry... In one such dream I was invited to a meeting by a person I had met in several dreams. She's a nurse... likely in the waking world too. Anyways, she invited me to a hospital, saying that there were some people who wanted to talk with me. So I went with her. We arrived and entered a large room which was filled with long tables and chairs. Seated at the tables were at least a hundred doctors, scientists and such. One of them stood as I walked in and said, "I'm glad you could make it. We have been watching you for some time now. We have outfitted many doorways with electronic devices that are designed to induce fear and other emotions in order to keep people from going through them, as a social experiment. You have gone through every one of them without any of the intended effects. We would like to ask you some questions and maybe run some tests." Hearing that I panicked and looked around the room. On a wall near me I saw a framed picture of the Golden Gate Bridge, so I jumped into it and landed in the middle of the road nearly being hit by a car. Which woke me up... Later that day I heard on the news that there was a 17 car pile up on the Golden Gate Bridge that morning! As I stated earlier in this thread, many people dream of the mundane. Meaning that when they dream they dream of their daily lives... Such as an experience I had in Taos. It's a small community with many open minds, yet many of it's denizens dreamed of normal everyday things. It was my first night in town and I thought I'd check out the local dream scene.... Boring! So I stood there for a while in the town square, then stood on one foot, then began hopping on one foot. With each hop I went higher and higher up. A group of local boys stopped and started watching me, at this point I was reaching the clouds. A young couple also stopped, but to ask the kids what they were staring at. They pointed at me as I was coming down from the clouds only to bounce up again. I woke shortly after. That day I was walking around the town square and the young couple from my dream stopped me and asked if I would like a cup of coffee. Of course, I did. We talked for a few hours over coffee... mostly about metaphysics and spirituality. Good convo. Later that day I bumped into a kid that just got off the Greyhound and just like me didn't know anyone in town, so we hung out and walked around. As we were walking the group of boys approached us, their eyes wide and with big smiles. They invited us to their elementary schools playground to smoke pot! My life is amazingly weird... Thank God! ---------------- Now playing: Pole - Schöner Land
Much of what I have experienced have been humans... Though, there are many other things out there... some of which have yet to be named in a language that we can physically speak. As far as I know, there isn't any group that "just try to stop humans reaching higher levels of knowledge and existence", though, there could be. What I do know is that there are many beings that are territorial (as in nature) and if you happen upon their realm of the astral planes they may not like it and might run you off or worse. I believe this is where many nightmares come from as well... children stumbling into dark waters. ---------------- Now playing: DVAR - meshairviit
