    Kudos for your weight loss.

You're dealing with stubborn fat deposits and the only strategy to deal with them is persistence. You haven't detailed your weight training but a good program targets all your muscle groups, including legs and back. All the crunches in the world won't help with fat deposits because it's not possible to spot reduce... fat needs to be metabolized in order to go away. If you've grown tired of running, try riding a bike or swimming... and take a close look at your diet.

I'm more than happy to help anyone with an interest in improving themselves.

Chicken is an excellent source of protein. Careful not to be too restrictive in your diet lest you slow your metabolism. It is true that you need to take in fewer calories than you burn but you want to keep it within a few calories of maintenance. I've also heard (from a more than reliable source) that yoga is useful in establishing and maintaining top physical condition. This person, who sports one of the most remarkable physiques I've seen also rides a bike every week... putting in 80 or more miles on some weekends.

The other thing you'll need is patience... and don't dwell on what you haven't yet attained, you already have plenty to be proud of. The best advice I can give anyone seeking better fitness is the best possible program is the one they can do long term and not hate it. Fitness is as much mental conditioning as it is physical.

Stinkfoot is right, the best thing you could do is do something you love doing. if you don't like doing it, then change it up. however, i'd throw caution to the wind in that you may have to decide to do something you don't like to achieve the goals you have set for yourself.

he also noted that you haven't detailed what you've done for weight training, nor your running program, nor what you've been eating. these are keys to being able to help yourself, but also helping us help you. if you'd like, be detailed as possible posting your weight training + running so far and your diet (what you've eaten for the past couple days...or start with what you've eating today-tomorrow....also, how much you currently weigh and height.

getting rid of the lovehandles will take persistence, like stinkfoot said. magic won't help. some supplements can help, but they will only work if you have your diet in order. enough protein to sustain LBM is essential, you really don't want to lose much muscle.

Ah, I got the metric system here, I'd have to start converting all that shit.

Nevermind for now, I'll stop the gym anyway. I'll cycle a lot and try yoga.

    Thanks for the help. :)

Hey Mr. Mojo, I've always had the love-handle issue. The front of my stomach would change size pretty easy, but the love handles would still be there to provide the hourglass shape to my torso from behind, making the rear view of me seem like I was a lot fatter than I really was.

I've found a combination of two things has shrinked them considerably. the basis for my workouts is the elliptical machine, and I do various other things while I get on and off the machine. The additive to this routine that has targeted my lovehandles is sideways situps. I just slide my feet under the couch for support, and turn my body one way or the other, and do the situp; left elbow meeting right knee, and vice versa. I alternate sides and do as many as I feel comfortable. My pulse is between 140-160 since I'm in the middle of an elliptical workout, which is what helps those side-situps to work.

Anyway, I don't know if you've tried that or not, but i look much thinner from behind now. cardio, side-situps, and persistence/habit did it for me. best of luck

I've reduced my love handles down further than they've been in a number of years... basically by adding daily cardio (four mile power walk) into my regular routine.

Most of it is something you get from your family lineage. I can be down to skin and bones and still have a bit of bellyfat. I stopped worrying over it. You should too.

Even if you mange to get it off, you'll be a slave to the task the rest of your life. Is that what you want?

We're all slaves to something in life. We pick our priorities and in following through with them we increasingly leave less and less time for alternative choices. You call it being slave to a task I call it a lifestyle decision. Whether or not a choice constitutes slavery to the activity is entirely in the head of the person doing it.

The reason that so many diet plans do not work is that they are unsustainable long term. We approach body image modification with an interventionist attitude where a remedial regimen is adopted until a desired result is achieved then we go back to the habits that created the problem in the first place. The weight loss industry thrives on the repeat business inherent in their approach when people gain all the weight back from something that "worked the first time".

Whether walking, running, swimming, biking, or whatever activity one chooses, the result will be satisfactory when the human body starts getting used in the manner it was designed for. We were not put together to sit on our asses eating chemical crap for food. The truest slaves are the ones who put themselves in a position to require weight loss and mentally approach exercise and diet as though it were grueling, soulless therapy.
