No need to be defensive. You made a point and I made a point. My point was that no one does anything to us, we do it to ourselves. We litteraly are the choices we make and no one but the one making the choise is responsible for those choices. No one makes us do anything, we choose to either hate or not hate.

With FedUp, he knew exactly which buttons to push on people to get them to hate him for what he was saying. FedUp didnt MAKE them hate him, but he still fed off that energy just like any Psychic Vampire would.

And the trouble is, everyone just opened their necks to him willingly not knowing what it was he was doing to them ... just like a typical Psychic Vampire.

I just don't get how you can see him as contributing to valuable discussion if you've read any of his posts. When I say "one of us", I mean people who actually want to discuss the topics posted, rather than posting them as a means to goad others. FedUp has as much as admitted to doing this, so it's not a question of it being my interpretation. He's also said that he's posting in character, so he can't even claim that he's been victimised for his opinions because he's admitted that they're not his opinions.

This is kinda the thing: I know that you and FedUp agree, or appear to, on some of the issues he says he raises. But you've generally posted without merely intending to provoke, and you've shown a willingness to treat those who respond to your posts with some respect in responding to them. You don't insist that anyone who disagrees is divorced from reality. FedUp likes to act like it's the issues he's raising that are the problem - that we just can't handle the truth - but it's just not the case. If he was willing to actually discuss anything, rather than just stating an opinion and then slating anyone who disagrees or even asks him to elaborate, he'd be just about fine.

 

Re the "new rules":

Fucking stupid. If someone can't deal with someone saying good things about their religion, or with the possibility of being persuaded by those things, that is their problem.

Fucking stupid, for the reason given by orison: you couldn't get away with this in ANY other forum.

Fucking stupid on several counts:

1) the religion is based on the Bible.
2) if one cannot quote the Bible, technically one can misquote the Bible and not be called upon it.
3) the anti-advertising reasoning is pretty tenuous (how does "the Bible says this" translate to "BE A CHRISTIAN IT IS RAD" exactly?Does quoting a book indicate that you're trying to sell that book? Pretty retarded, given that it's in the public domain and available to just about anyone for free), but even if it wasn't, FedUp has quite openly and blatantly advertised his radio show on here.


My feeling here is that, if these rules were applied to anti-Christians, it would be seen as a serious issue. If these rules were applied to anti-Christians in this sub-forum it would be a serious issue. Can you imagine:

The anti-Christians might kid themselves that they're presenting "the facts" or "reality", and they might not see the irony in claimed to be reasoned or rational while committing what would in the scientific community amount to career suicide. But what they do frequently amounts to an equivalent to Witnessing, Proselytising and Bible Quoting:

"Christianity ruined my life, you must now listen to me whitter about it!",

"You shouldn't follow Jesus because it is delusionals!!",

"I read a blog that says you shouldn't follow Jesus/that Jesus was totally all about child molesting, it's utterly unscientific and basically just some guy's retarded opinion, but look how many other people read it, that must prove it's fact!!!! (also listen to my radio show)"

oh, and part of the bible quoteing ban is that, basically, people were using the bible to prove the bible, again and again. it was pretty off topic and got tedious.

Fair enough I guess, but it's still pretty insane. If someone's posting the same crap over and over again, it should be treated the same way whether they're quoting the Bible or not. But it's pretty insane if someone, say, completely misinterprets what's in the Bible, and someone can't tell them what's actually in there.

Basically, those rules combined with the existence of "The Sanctuary" give the impression that someone wanted to divide the place - give the Christians their own little forum, and then devote the main one to outright slagging of the religion.

I think the moderators have a lot of discretion, as I have quoted the bible several times and nothing was said to me.

I do have somewhat of a problem with it being a listed rule though, because I could easily see how it could be abused. But as of right now, I think the moderators are pretty lenient about it.

 

so which rules shall i follow for i am both an anthichristian, and a jesus lover.....
i dont understand? christians versus atheists or christians versus christians, or what else?
anyhow, its good that i have been tolerated up to now, very unexpected for me...i mean to offend noone anyhow...

 

At the risk of getting all "slippery slope" on y'all, we have laws like that here, the ones where the police get new powers but we don't mind because they only apply to brown people... We should be more worried about them, really.
