Hello there! I'm Rebecca and I'm 18, at university in Newcastle studying French, German and Spanish. Obviously, I like languages, but I'm also a bit of a musician - I play recorder, saxophone, clarinet, I'm teaching myself the guitar (slowly!!) and I sing. I hate labelling myself, but I'd probably describe myself as a bit of a hippy, and my friends would probably describe me as mad. I like wearing long skirts, crazy tights, bright colours, funky eye-shadow and experimenting with braids etc in my hair. However, I'd also love to own a gothic corset and/or full gothic dress, and have dreadlocks... both of which will hopefully come about this summer! My friends and my family are my world and I love them. I also love writing letters, getting letters, hugs in all their forms, candlelit quaker meetings, herbal teas, art, the theatre, and carrying out (and receiving!) random acts of kindness. I'm reliable and dependable, organised but very messy, insecure and loving, intelligent and colourful, friendly and caring, good at keeping secrets and good at giving hugs. So, questions?
Welcome to the forums! First question - what do you want to be when you grow up? Is it the same was what you thought you wanted to be when you were 8?
On a related note: what's your favourite book? Album? Artist (musical or otherwise heh)? If you had to apply a label besides 'hippie', which one would you pick?
Peace-phoenix: I haven't a clue what I want to be when I'm older.... it changes a lot! At the moment I'm thinking I'd like to work in subtitling foreign films... that's definitely not what I wanted to be 10 years ago - back then I wanted to be a teacher (admittedly still an option!) Finnaz: green, definitely! Nynysuts: I hardly have time to read books during term-time... I'm in the middle of Angela Carter's "Wise Children" at the moment. The last one I finished was "The Bell Jar", I think! Both brilliant books. Quoth the Raven: my favourite book is probably "Nights at the Circus" (another Angela Carter) although I have a secret childish love of all things Enid Blyton!! Favourite album is probably The Cranberries' "Stars", favourite (musical) artist is the french singer Jean-Jaques Goldman, and favourite (painter) artist would be Wassily Kandinsky. If I had to label myself anything other than 'hippie'? 'Indie' would probably be the nearest!
