In your personal opinion. Like, if we are actually punished(justly) for every single sin we commit on earth, do you think it would be a harsh punishment... or just something that will be brushed off. I guess it would come down to what religion you belong to and your personal morals. I think it may be a sin, because its bad for your body and you're not treating what you've been given with respect. But then again, this is OUR body we have been given, so maybe how we treat it, itself isn't important or judged, just how we treat others would be what sins really are. Anyone?
Really, I don't think it would be a sin, as long as you weren't exposing others to second-hand smoke, which indirectly makes you a murderer. However, you could also look at it as a form of suicide, which is certainly frowned upon.
this is a fantastic topic! just the other day i was watching a program, and it mentioned that satan means adversary, but only christians think satan is an adversary to 'God' both the jewish and muslim faiths consider satan to be an adversary to humans, testing us for worthiness. tempting us with the wrong path that we may see the right one. in that case, if you include the respect for 'God's' image, and life in and of itself, then it is probably a sin, and if every sin is recorded in great detail (a waste of celestial paper IMO) then it would depend on the number of lives you damaged. the pope declared pollution to be a sin, and smoking is a form of pollution, however small. I don't believe in sin. i do believe in morals, and being responsible for the things you've done. everyone makes mistakes. i don't think we are all born bad. i don't think that half drowning babies protects them from harm, and i don't think telling some dude in a fancy robe what you've done wrong, putting a donation in the cup and saying a random number of pre-written emotionless prayers absolves you of a drop of guilt or responsibility for any action. PS i am an eclectic pagan, and in the words of George Carlin "These are my rules, I make 'em up."
yes i believe it is a sin. in many cases it is bad for the body, and the body should be treated with respect. and it can lead to addiction which is bad for the soul.
yeah, in my view it is. but what i think of sin isn't something that pisses god off sin to me is something you do that has negative effects on you and other people, and if you continue doing that negative action you will reap the consequences. cigs are because even though i enjoy them, im hurting my body, putting others at risk with second hand smoke and polluting the earth which effects everyone.
well i don't think so if cigs are a sin then man where all fucked but for real you will not be judged if you repent right????
I don't believe smoking cigs is a sin. But if it is a sin, I'm going to hell.. along with millions of other people.
I wouldn't smoke if it wasn't a sin. This way I know that I'm getting closer and closer to meeting the dark lord Satan.
No,but fast food is.Seriously lazy Americans patronize fast food so much now,and they are far from the healthiest people in th world. In many other countries they still smoke heavily on average, but because of a much healthier lifestyle, less fast food junk and less stress, the people are far healhier than Americans.
no shit.. you're even born into sin.. how fuckin depressing can religion get lol... OP... if smoking is a sin.. its a minor one to the others i have committed... :sifone:
