(repost from livejournal, sorry if it looks weird or anythign) aka, grad ceremonies were yesterday SO FUCKING LONG sweet jesus. The crazy lady in the bad outfit (well, one of the bad outfits, poor garish robe-wearers) even read out the bio for an award given to someone who was in Europe at the time >.> gah! At least they didn't read out the names of everyone who wasn't there and was getting a degree. But, I finally got the shiny shiny paper, got out of the exceedingly warm robe (that was down to my ankles, heehee), met my mom, dad, step dad and my bf outside, did the photo op thing (felt like a monkey on display), then went to supper with them minus my step dad plus my mom's bf, my cousin, her hubby and some of their family. Chianti's ftw My mom got me a car. A bloody car. A 95 Toyota Tercel, 4 door auto a/c remote start. It was one that a family friend was planning on selling, I'd asked that it get held for me so I could buy it after I get a real job (around September I figured I could afford it at the latest) and mom just decided she would get it for me. Totally unexpected. My grandma gave me a lot of money >.> yay for paying rent. My dad got me a rice cooker (woot!) and said he was getting something else too. My cousin's gonna take me driving on Thursday so's I can get some practise and go for my drivers test (yes, I technically have a car, without having a license. Shush. It's getting its brakes repaired first anyway) And no, I still don't have a f/t job. I still work at the movie store part-time, my hours have gone up a bit (yay) and I got a raise there a month or so ago (double yay), and I actually wanna stick there like one day a week if I get another job. The people I work with are freakin awesome, the benefits are sweeeet and it's near my house
you mean it is a common thing to have tanning beds in the back of video rental places? I always laugh and think "what the fuck" when I pass the one that's near me. I didn't know that was something that people did in video rental places
ahahah i probably shoulda mentioned that this was my university grad, not high school i want a jooooooob! *cries* i hate having money so tight that setting aside $20 for the month aside from rent is a big deal
yeah congrats, i just graduated as well but i only got a new computer not a car don't get disheartened if finding a f/t job in your area is harder than you thought. it can get really stressful and frustrating but hang in there
Haha yup. The town where I live, well, basically the movie rental place is the only place there is to go tanning...if you're into that... Tanning salons? Ppsch. Aint no pornos to pick up there. Might as well kill two birds with one stone. J/K They quit renting pornos awhile back...
i got a laptop for HS grad, and my stepdad gave me a cheque two xmas's ago for my desktop and that cost about as much as this car did yknow, i dont normally think of my folks as the over indulgent parents, but this is ridiculously spoiled. not that im complaining, but my family never had the idea that the parents are -supposed- to buy a car for the kid, or that the kid (at whatever age) -deserves- a car or any of that crap. ive had friends bitch because the car they got their second year of uni from their parents was used instead of new >.> and ive got a shwack of jobs to apply for over the weekend. hopefully someone will call me back soon! i had a number i didnt recognize call me earlier but it was just my ex asking to go out for coffee, instead of an interview for a job
