    Good news first
A fatwa issued against terrorism; it's a bit late, no? But it's an Islamic institution condemning terrorism maybe could inspire several others to follow suit (not to claim that several Muslim individuals don't speak out against terrorism anyway).

    Bad news
It's in India, not the Middle East.
AWWWWWW. But being in India, it influences many of the Muslims who live in Britain, which is pretty nice anyway.

(This isn't meant to be a flaming debate kind of thread; if any opinions should come up, discuss them respectfully please)

A Muslim religious institution issued a statement which condemns terrorism, publicly denying any association with terrorist actions; this means that Muslim extremists could no longer consider themselves backed by (a good number of) religious institutions.

The bad news wasn't really bad news, it was just that since the institution is in India, not the Middle East, it's influence isn't as great as one would hope; however, it does have influence in several places across the globe, so it's not really that little of a deal.

I'm sorry, it's a complicated situation that I'd have trouble putting in a way that a non-english speaker could understand completely, the article might be clearer to you

    oh ok...ı see
its really good news.:) as being a turkish citizen in Turkey, i dont follow any other scholars who give fatwas. because i follow some turkish scholars...on the other hand, it is obvious that islam never supports terror, that one neednt give a fatwa.FOR IT IS ALREADY STATED THAT KILLING OTHERS FOR NO VALİD REASON IS RESTRICTED IN KORAN.and ıts regarded as a great sin to misinterpret the verses of koran, on behalf of one's own greed, or wrath or ill will, as by saying " ı have a valid reason" though he hasn't...some concider it a holy war, Jıhad, but jıhad has ıts own rules...ıts a complex situatıon, really, i dont have any clear ıdea whether the quilty ones are devout muslims, or extremists, or somekind of a plan to provoke...yet, i can only say, up to now, ı have never been taught to hurt anyone unless i am hurt, that forgiving is better...however, it is one's right to defend himself when attacked, so, some of the cases shown as terrorism by the media, might be a righteous defense, for muslims are really hurt a lot nowadays...
    here is the verse:

"For this reason did We prescribe to the children of Israel that whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men; and whoever keeps it alive, it is as though he kept alive all men; and certainly Our apostles came to them with clear arguments, but even after that many of them certainly act extravagantly in the land. I think it's about the perception that Muslim suicide bombers have been practicing terrorist jihad, and it's about time a fatwa has been issued against it. I'm familiar with sura 5:32, but some Muslims seem to draw different conclusions from other suras. I respect your opinions, and would welcome your thoughts.

Muslims are followers. The problem for them has been a lack of leadership on a global level. And in the current politcal climate (a result of social engineering by the west) it would be a dangerous position to fill.

The strategy has been to lay low until things cool off. It hasn't. Now Islam lacks a voice to defend itself with. So smaller groups try to be heard above the din.

It may be too little too late to prevent WWIII.

Will always exist a extremist team that acts as their scholars. They follow their own Fatwa and will declare that jihad on whoever they desire.

You know as well as I do that Israel has no shortage of radical Rabbi's.

Those who are attempting to rebuild the temple are doing so under their direction.

A true worldwide Jihad has never been declared in modern times. The people I just mentioned are really hard at work to lite this bomb.

Fatwa is a woman thing or a wealth thing. Terrorism itself is neither.
