A few weeks ago, a few friends and I had a new batch of blotter to test out. It was white on one side and had some kind of blue pattern on the back. It turned out to be some fairly potent stuff, I'd say at least top 3 out of everything I've tried.

We had a friend with us who had never done acid before, so we gave him a couple. He had done mushrooms with his glasses on and nothing too crazy happened (nothing unheard of anyway.) But he heard about the sharpening of the senses that happens on L and decided that he would trip without glasses, to find out if it would help him see better. It didn't, but the weird thing about it is that he said his visuals were blurry. He now believes that the visuals are real, we just can't see them without help. Any thoughts or info on this? It seems to me to be a decent start to an argument that LSD is much more than just a drug.

My visuals are always blurry, but then again I used to sit mere inches away from the television as a child. For years, mind you. Years

i think psychedelics show you things that were always there, you just dont have the means to experience them while behind the blinds of concrete reality....its like putting on 3-d glasses and then finally understanding why that picture is so cool

Well there are a few things to consider. First it is definitely true that far more information reaches the retina than ends up as a part of the visual experience. The brain ignores billions of bits of information in order to provide us with a visual experience that is practical. It is certainly possible that psychedelics cause a change in what information is blocked and what becomes a visual experience. In that way it is possible that some of the things that we see while tripping are in fact parts of ordinary reality that we typically do not see. Another thing to consider is the physiology of visual experiences. For people who are near or far sighted the incoming light is not focused properly by the cornea and comes to a focus either after or before the retina meaning that the image on the retina is not focused. I myself am near sighted so for example, if I look at a lit light bulb from a distance without my glasses on, the image of the light bulb will not be properly focused so that a larger and less precise pattern of firing will occur in my receptors resulting in a less precise visual experience. For me light bulbs look like gigantic orbs of undifferentiated light without my glasses. It could be that the specific visual phenomena that we experience while tripping is based largely on the pattern of firing across the retina and so less precise action there can result in less precise visual experiences in general. Of course memory and previous experience can have much to do with it. I had a dream once where I could see clearly at a distance but then I took my glasses off in the dream and everything became blurry. If you really want to investigate it look for a text book about sensation and perception.

I understand how the eye works (basically, anyway) but the problem is that I've never seen anything telling exactly how LSD creates visuals. I'm not 100% sure that it's even known yet.

My roommate and I are going to try some experiments soon. He currently wears glasses, but he's getting corrective surgery done very soon. He's going to take about 2-3 hits before the surgery without glasses and then do the same after the surgery.

i used to trip without my glasses on because it gave better visuals especially on 2-ce

but now my vission is so bad it impossiable for me to trip with out my glass unless i stay in the same spot the whole trip.
i perfer to trip with my glasses on now just because i am usually at a show and i want to see the band playing.
