    Vicodin vs. percocet

I was on two 5/500 Vics every 6 hours for pain. pain got worse so I had to step it up. I'm now on two 7.5/325 Percs, every 6 hours. It brings to mind a question...

Whats the difference between 10mg of Hydrocodone, as opposed to 10mg of Oxycodone?

    Are they different drugs?

Are 10mg of percs stronger than 10mg of Vics?

Is there another step up above Percs, but below Oxycontin?

oxycodone is a lot stronger than hydro in my experience, somewhere around 1.5X or 2X. Meaning the strenth of 15mg of oxy is comparable to 25-30mg of hydro.

Percocet is oxycodone/APAP, so the only real difference between oxycontin and percocet is the APAP. There isnt another step above percs and below oxycontin, only in dosages. If you're on 10mg percocet and need something stronger, the nex step would be 15mg roxcodone, then 20mg oxycontin. But remember that oxycontin is continuous-release, unlike percocet and roxicodone.

    How friggin weird is that.

I just had knee sirgery (for the 2nd time) and went from 7.5/500 Hydrocodone(Vics)/APAP to 7.5/500 Oxycodone/APAP

The Percs do seem stronger and zone me out a little more, but the Hydros gave me more of the 'warm, fuzzy, I love everybody, opiate' feeling.

    10mg of hydrocodone= 7.5mg of oxycodone

this is according to all the opiate converters,,,but 60 mg of oxy gets me a lot higher than 8 norcos would...

and if your worried about addiction, vicodin is CIII and percocet/Oxycontin/anything with oxycodone is CII which means it is more addictive...
