slide show of the cabin... sorta;)

    oh we are working on cutting up a MONSTER white pine,probably a 70 footer,,the base is probably 30 inches.. i couldnt imagine bustin shakes out of it though,not unless i just had nothing better to do..

    but hey,, your more than welcome to come show us how its done.. ;)

    cut it in lenghts and have it milled! i guess its the one that came down the outher day while you were online? white oak makes better shakes anyway! aaaaarrrrr my neibors dog wants to live here! comes in and eats the cat food!(i know itts off topic!) but hell shes driving me CRAZY sweet pup but i dont want another dog! geuss i have to shut my dog door up! lol!!! peace!

    That is just so cool. Do you guys live in there now?
    Are you considering this seriously? Because I think it is a GREAT idea! Or market it as a "fitness retreat" aka fat camp and bring in even more :tongue:.

    This is a great home you have built, very impressive and the pics really show the hard work that goes into building.
    thanks for sharing your building experience and your home looks very solid.

    we lived up there for a year and a half. we moved back down to the shack at the beginning of last winter. it is just to much effort keeping both places heated with wood and as this is where the computers and running water is it took priority.

    we still use it as a retreat(even if it is only 50 yards out the back door) as well as a guest house.

    glad you enjoyed it sandshoe.. :)

    heres some wonderful late spring photos of the cabin we just took today.

    this is the outdoor kitchen i built for the cabin last year, i still have a little work i want to do to it when i have time.

    and the new outhouse for the cabin.its a two seater.i have the windows,thats about all thats left on it besides figuring out some kinda earthy siding for it.

    we filled the holes between the logs with expandable foam (i do insulation for a living so it was free)then covered that with standard mortar mix..
