Since this is a mostly liberal forum, most people are automatic victims of WalMart. My question is why do you hate WalMart so much? What has it done to you? I'd like to know how you have personally suffered. If you are a liberal, then you are automatically a victum of WalMart. I'd like to hear the stories of suffering that the biggest employer of America has caused. Since high gas prices are a bitch, and apparently low retail prices are a bitch too, I guess nothing is good enough... Of course, this is America. Everything is wrong and unfair here... Please elaborate on how WalMart has done you wrong. (Sarcasm included for free)
i am so sick of wal-mart! its draining the world of regular peoples business forcing them to shut down while at the same time forces you to shop at it because there is nowhere else to go. and syphoing energy for the 24 hours thing. i mean realy, who needs a lawnmower and tube socks at 2 am!
Meh, I actually shop at Walmart, truth be told, for the moment. My boyfriend and I are incredibly broke, and living in a very conservative town, the cheapest prices, and sometimes, the only place where you can get things, is.... Walmart. I hate to say it, but their prices are awesome... and they do have everything. Maybe when I can afford it I'll shop at the fancy natural health food store like Trader Joe's or some home owned business, but right now they're all too expensive!
This maybe a liberal forum as you said. But I am very conservative.I detest Walmart because they have "raped" America in every way ,and the government has let them. Most know its an obnoxious place to shop, incompetent employees, almost all products made in China. And their prices are not t low anymore.Walmart is an example and "symbol" of how LOW in many ways the USA has now sunk.
I don't care how low their prices are or how late they are open. I have avoided shopping there for almost 2 years and I never will again. I can't stand the long lines, the crowds and the cheap plastic crap they sell. I support my local economy.
Well, if everyone shops at walmart, all of the other chains would be closed, and then we would have only walmart.
Local economy around here is more expensive... sooo... seeing as i'm broke... fuck that shit. lines? Never at 1AM!! lol, its fun to go grocery shopping at odd hours.
We go to Walmart get our cheap crap and most of us are happy.Understood who has lots of money?but we also go there cause now because of them small businesses can't survive and there is nowhere else to go,which is exactly the way they want it.If I was a small business owner I would'nt be very happy about it. Plus all we notice is that they're cheaper than other stores.Other shops *have to be more expensive to keep up with them and those will eventually go out of business too,and what's left walmart the *only place to shop?I don't know 'bout anyone else but I find that frightening. We see the cheaper prices and we're happy we have no idea what's really going on with them, what causes and organizations they're supporting.Where all that money goes. And we never ask how walmart became this super huge organization.10 years ago I hardly ever heard of walmart,20 years ago I never heard of them at all.Where did this greedy, power hungry pseudo humanoid corparation come from?
I am all about supporting local businesses. I always try to go to local repair shops instead of chains or support local trades men and women instead of buy mass produced junk or going to non chain restaurants. But merchants are all selling the same china crap.. Why go to the mom and pop store and pay double for fruit of the loom underwear? I could see if the stuff they were selling was supporting local trades men and women but it is them same china crap Wal-mart has. So when these small local merchants will pay extra to support local trades men and women I will pay extra to support them. Until then I will buy my cheap Chinese socks and underwear form Wal-mart.
My neighbor came in and borrowed a steamroller, while I was sleeping. I paid $20 for it. He gave my girlfriend a $12 Wal-Mart gift card. I haven't seen it, in a week-and-a-half. It will cost me gas money, at $4/gallon, and it's twenty minutes away! :smash: I don't appreciate that place.
how much do i hate walmart? i have never been inside of one the nearest walmart is 70 miles away [and i have no car] when considering towns i might want to move to in the future, the absence of walmarts is a prime factor [chains in general i hate]
I buy alot of my groceries there, only because its one of the closest supermarkets to my rural house. I don't buy much else. Not terribly materialistic. x
xexon Is there any reason you would'nt go to the other supermarkets close to you? They are probably big chains to,but not as huge as walmart.(Maybe they're not).I don't know. Just wondering. Why do you think they call them *Chain* stores anyway.lol.Seriously.
A Chain- all linked to gather and all links are the same. From Wikipedia: "A restaurant chain is a set of related restaurants, usually with the same name in many different locations either under shared corporate ownership (e.g., In-N-Out Burgers in the U.S.) or franchising agreements. Typically, the restaurants within a chain are built to a standard format and offer a standard menu." In other words they are just generic crap places that are all the same. And when you spend money there you are just supporting a major corporation. They are all the same to me Wal-mart, K-mart, Target. Why is Wal-mart worse? Because their competitors are mad.. And have created a negative campaign agenst them. Fuck them all... thrifts stores and open markets are the shit.
Thanks zihger, I know what a chain store is just making a little joke, you know?.Like you're *chained to the store like a slave=Chain stores.Ok yes so it may not be that funny. And I do agree, they all suck. I like the thrift stores too, always an adventure.I've found awesome stuff there, all sorts of things, great stuff.People have complimented me and asked me where i've bought a jacket a shirt any number of things for my apt.when I tell them the thrift store-salvation army they think I'm lying to them.I guess they'd rather get ripped off in macy's,or perhaps they're entirely clueless.. Handmade crafts and stuff are always amazing, someone actually put alot of care and time into the merchandise.I'm always happy to buy from them.
I can't seem to recall anyone bitching about low prices. Do you have a link to someone who is bitching about low prices? Are high gas prices a bitch? YES! Are low retail prices a bitch? NO! Is everything else that walmart does a bitch? YES! One thing that pisses me off about walmart is the "Buy American" campaign they launched in the mid-eighties. Americans (and their money) built walmart into a huge corporation. Walmart then sticks it in our ass by sourcing 70% of their crap from China. Walmart
As a vegetarian, I have to shop multiple stores anyway as none of them have it all for me. My favorite place is a grocery discount store where the inventory has lots of overstock and discontinued items. Often at a 50% discount or more. Even over Walmart. You don't need a tram to go from one end of the store to the other either. x
Yeah thrift stores rock.. I wear 100% cotton, silk, or rayon golf and Hawaiian shirts I get brand new thrift stores people don’t like the way they look so they get rid of them. 3-4 dollars gets you a $50 rayon shirt at thrift store $12 at Wal-mart gets you a generic white trash wife beater. Lol A lot of people judge me by my clothes and think I am a yuppie, hahaha shallow people.
Why I HATE Walmart: -They constantly break ADA laws -They use child labor to make their goods -They have broken and most likely still break environmental laws -They brain wash their employees that their jobs are amazing and that the Union is horrible. -They force their workers to work overtime and refuse to pay them for it. -They close down local shops. -They get governmental subsidies. -They brainwash the lower income families to shop there because their prices are "lower" -They only donate 1% of their profits to organizations, even though they say that they donate more. Oh, I can go on and on about why I hate Walmart...
