i've felt that this forum has become a war place. Instead of argueing i'm just gonna share some of my favourite verses. Feel free to question them, but lets not war over them. btw i realise i have been angry with people and i am truly ashamed and sorry. Roly.xxx Genesis 8:21-end ' "I will never again curse the ground because of human beings. Their thoughts are evil even when they are young, but i will never again destroy every living thing on the earth as i did this time. As long as the earth continues planting and harvest, cold and hot, summer and winter, day and night will not stop." ' This is after Noah and the ark. God is promising never to hurt the people on earth. WE CAUSE WAR, NOT GOD. John 14:27 ' "I leave you peace; my peace i give you. I do notgive itto you as the world does . So dont let your hearts be troubled or afraid." ' I love this verse because it speaks of God giving us a peace greater than we can imagine for it is heavenly peace not earthly peace. It gives me hope in dark times. John 15:18-20 '" If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world it would love you as it loves its own . But i have chosen you out of the world, so you do not belong to it . That is why the world hates you."' This verse pretty much sums up the state of christianity in the world now. People hate christians and Jesus is saying 'its ok, i've been there, i kno what its like.' If we were to conform and not have our faith the world would love us for we would be one of them, but we have chosen not to be so that is why we are hated. psalm 37, 14-16, ' The wicked draw their swords and bend their bows to kill the poor and helpless, to kill those who are honest. But their swords will stab their own hearts and their bows will break.' OK i'm done just thought i would share some of my favourite verses and tell why. Peace, roly.xxx
those are beautiful. there's also those lines from that minister who wrote desiderata, which i meditate to when everything gets too much. "keep peace with your soul, it is still a beautiful world."
the are indeed beautiful and very inspirational for me, i'm glad you have found something to be inspired by as well!
this is my first time poking around here in this forum, but i think this thread is lovely. i hope this forum is not like you said filled with arguing. because whatever your beliefs, your religion or your denomination, flaws can be found in all of them, the only thing that is not flawed is a love for God in whatever way you choose to see him. instead of arguing about what is wrong with a religion or a way of believing people should look for a common thread in which to share there love for God. just my opinion...it just seems that we should try and build each other up instead of tearing each other down.. peace and love to you all
Glad u like it here Yes i think it should be more of a celebration of jesus and a place of learning of him....perhaps they should make a debate forum for the arguements....thank you for your time to reply. God Bless. Roly.xxx
"But i have chosen you out of the world, so you do not belong to it" Makes me feel a whole lot better when things are looking down.
me too! especially lately....this really lifts me out of the bad situations i can find myself in.....
I don't usually quote chapter and verse, but I do believe that these two quotes convey the essence of Christianity, which is also the Hippie Ideal. Mark 12: 29-31 And Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one: And you shall love the Lord thy God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, You shall love your neighbour as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these." John 15: 10-12 "If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken to you, that my joy might remain in you, and your joy might be full. This is my commandment, That you love one another, as I have loved you." So, What if everyone actually did love one another? Not just those who are bound to love by faith or flesh, but everyone. What if all of the criminals, terrorists, warriors, corporates, politicians, and citizens of every nation were to accept something other than violence, hatred, fear, intolerance, ignorance, and greed and take just one simple step, if even for only a moment, toward realizing our common humanity. Imagine a world, our world, the real world, and how different it would be if everyone actually did love one another, if even just a little more than they do now. Well? You do what you can.
thats such a beautiful vision.....i wish we could make it happen....as i live on the#is earth i plan to do my very best to make it happen....who's with me?
" may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight." psalm 19:14 " i have a delightful inheritance " psalm 16:6 "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble" James 4:6 " therefore do not worry about tommorow, for tommorow will worry aboout itself. each day has enough trouble of its own."
