I am truly saddened for years I've faithfully watched Meet the Press. He always seemed to have the courage to ask the tough questions of his guests.

And he was my age which really brings home the temporary nature of life.

Yea i saw the breaking news report about this. He was one of the few (probably the only) political commentators and journalists that was genuinely unbiased.

He seemed to really strive to provide balanced reporting and hard hitting journalism.

But the media seems to have all but come to a halt today over this. Self-reflection time? Or is it a mask for all the IMPORTANT NEWS that got ignored in America today. And there was a lot! Ask the Israelis and Iraqis. I'd provide more info, but I wouldn't want to spoil the media blackout!

Sorry back to Tim. He'd have been all over the real news today. Stay tuned, but not to television!

Yes he would have been Skip. I guess I can't wheedle the details out of you.

I was working today. Outside no radio or tv, so I just heard about it. My part of California is covered in wildfires right at the moment. I feel for those under flooding conditions, we could use some of their water.

I hope they don't replace his spot on Meet the Press with Chris Mathews, he always seems to ride the fence and never wants to make any real waves or enemies. A real beltway whore.

Chris Matthews would be a bad choice. He's no longer on the fence. He's become as insanely rabid as Lou Dobbs. How about Rachel Maddow? I'd love to see the conservatives grilled by a liberal activist lesbian every week!

Britt Hume would be a good replacement.

Britt Hume sold out to the right years ago. He's biased. Although compared to rest of the crew at Fox he's probably a liberal.

Yes, very sad news. DH (who's turning 58 at the end of the month) told me upon awaking today.

He was a good man but I think he would gag if he heard all the gushing tributes being paid to him. He would tell everyone at NBC that there is work to do and go do it.

His replacement? Tim was not a journalist when he was recruited by NBC. Maybe they should go outside the box again.

I agree with everything you had to say Trevor. I hope we can get back to reporting and honest commentary soon.

I think they should replace him with David Gregory. He's about as close as NBC will get with unbiasedness. Nobody will ever be able to get at the level Russert was at in fairness and investigative journalism.
