We need our guns

They are at it again. they want to ban people from owning guns in D.C.. I don't care about D.C. I care about me. We need guns in Pittsburgh. What if someone breaks into my house and wants to steal my little chick ? Or worse yet my Dog. I should have the right to kill him right ? I think this is a God given right to kill someone that wants to steal your chick or dog. Maybe it's just me.

Well, first of all... the US has a ridiculously high weapon crime rate. The OP lives in Pittsburgh, which has a big inner city population of gun totting idiots who are too lazy to earn a honest wage and would rather come into your house and steal your shit.

More importantly, the US has an oppressive government which could potentially want to come into your house or do something that you strongly disagree with. A responsible citizen will be armed and ready to protect himself against said government and be ready to form a citizen militia if necessary.

This is not a pretty world we live in, sadly guns are a necessity in certain cities... unless you want to be helpless when someone breaks into your house with a gun.

There are many violent 'inner-city' places here in the UK, but, we seem to swap guns for knives. Both can kill, granted.

There is a massive leap from robbing someone to killing someone.
Given the choice, I think a large proportion of robbers would like to continue to rob, rather than have blood on their hands.

Most of the people who'd rob someone here are either ghetto black, completely redneck, or illegal immigrants. None of them worry too much about shooting someone. It's better to have a dead guy than a witness against you.
