Well i have a thought that basically stems form Terence Mckenna's "stoned ape man theory". Basically the way i see it is that the human race has been "tripping" for thousands and thousand of years. And only now in our era is the trip ending. With the coming down, religion is fading, and as a symptom from the enlightenment and return back to animal instinctive behavior on a certain level of subconsciousness, a new way of observation has given birth to science. But I think that we are really gaining speed here and almost falling. Society has become very structurally detailed, organizing everything, unlike animal organization, so for the human race to continue to exist on it's new found level, it needs another "trip" precisely the reason that LSD was created. So what I'm saying is we need a global controlled and conscious Psychedelic Experience, and it has to last for a number of generations, or else our race might just become pure anarchy and destroy itself. hm mh hm. Perhaps this is our path...

Recently I've been feeling and "seeing" that we are all proxies acting out the dream of a sleeping giant, and that giant might be starting to wake up. if I can paraphrase the Matrix: when you're having a dream, pleasant or otherwise, your entire sphere of awareness is about the dream. You can't remember or visualize your normal reality (except lucid dreaming) in the dream, then it all makes sense once you wake up. Oh yeah it was a dream, that's the only way to explain how crazy it was. If this life of ours is simply a dream, how would we know otherwise? We're in it, we're living it, acting it out, and it will only make sense to us once we wake up and realize it for what it is, a simple dream.

Yes i think that natural substances such as DMT (LSD is the only exception, as far as i know, being a synthesized chemical) that are psychoactive/mind expanding, are resonant with the Perfect Frequency (call it god, ultimate being, whatever, its just the highest the mightiest and most perfect in comparison with all the rest that flow next to it and trying to resonate with it) thus when we do consume it, we rise higher in our minds (that is of course if we choose to resonate with and accept the chemical's influence, if not we have a bad trip...) and by rising higher we see a lot more below, its like when your climbing a mountain, the higher you get the the more of the land below you can see as a whole. So what i'm getting to is that since when we are dreaming it is probably due to the influence of DMT released into our brains, and since we are not conscious in the material world we think is reality, and the release of the DMT causes us to activate our focus of mind into our parallel selves. This goes along a bit with what burnabowl said, in that its just two(or multiple) parallel realities and we are also made up of two (or multiple) parallel selves, and psychoactives give us the energy to distort the linear continuation of flow of self and communicate/affect/oberve on other levels/frequencies.
So perhaps when we feel a dejavu, it maybe that in our reality our other parallel selves are observing with us, be it their dream, be it their tripping on a psychoactive, but it maybe.
Also the feeling of coincidence may also tie in somewhere in there.
And when we die if the DMT levels really are released 100% it happens simultaneously in all of our parallel selves, thus pushing us together into a single whole, in a direction chosen by the whole, and it may be to resonate with the perfect frequency getting alot of power (a good death trip (haha)) or dissonating with the self and "exploding" and basically starting the spiral of progression through dimensions over from the lowest farthest level from the Perfect frequency (a bad death trip(heh)).

so that's why science wants to know how bee and ant colonies organize themselves without central leadership. i know these are just two species, but you just can't generalize the animal kingdom like that. by now they know how these species do it, but don't know how to implement it in human society.

i do think the human species is evolving mentally and more importantly spiritually, but I don't think psychedelics on its own can do the job. i think it would be wise to keep on meditating and philosophising as well and especially talk openly to each other. psychedelics are really powerfull, but will always stay a mere trigger to me. it triggers a certain kind of consiousness that needs to be developed

Hm, you are correct i was generalizing, i suppose i more so referred to the common mammals more so than other species. But as i said earlier, I am stemming from from Terence Mckenna's Stoned Ape Man Theory, which basically explains human intelligence as a symptom of a long time use of Psilocybin Mushrooms in the diet of human ancestors. If that is the case, it is quiet possible that Psychedelics are the key.
I do agree with you on one thing though, that meditating and philosophising would have to act as keys as well. But then technically they too came about from the Human Intelligence.

psychedelics, or a more reverent term, entheogenics, have always been part of the picture of society. indigenous cultures learn how to properly apply the drugs, and establish the protocols so that no one trips badly and there's always a resurrection of the spirit. but we know that invaders and conquerers liked to abolish those practices because they want mind control. different groups of people have had to rediscover psy drugs over and over, sometimes realizing that the obscure religious texts of their ancestors are inextricably tied to psychedelic sacraments. even judeo-christianity...adam and eve in an intellectually and emotionally neutral "garden" and are told to avoid eating a certain fruit, and when they do they see themselves as they are. pretty consistent with spiritual self-discovery of our time by means of psy's. or the tabernacle with moses...burning incense in the holy place inside. what were they really burning and were they hot boxing? we get physically sick when we haven't gotten the right physical nutrition, but I submit we get mentally sick when we don't get proper mental nutrition. planet earth knows our needs and provides for them, food for the body, entheogens for the mind; those in power have kept their subjects hungry and sick and now modern society is so widely mentally ill; western influence has set a destructive precedent for the rest of the world to abandon their indigenous values and focus on materialism. we're afflicted with this disease that effects all living things and nonliving on this planet. we're not mammals, we're a virus or a cancer, that the earth wants to cure itself of. if we don't get cured meekly through psy sacraments we might require a more obvious demonstration from our planet.

going off the notion of mushrooms catalyzing human intelligence...

    think about this

You know the mushroom spore is the only organic object that can survive travel through space. Which is why some people pieced together some more stuff to speculate mushrooms arrived only like 50,000 years ago on earth, or was it 500,000? I don't remember, but it was long after earths formation. But it goes, the mushroom spore traveled through space, some showered on earth and now mushrooms grow on earth.

But into a broader context, a Mushroom head that grew out of another spherical planet spewed a bunch of spores which traversed great distance to innoculate our spherical planet. Which now grows more mushroom heads to drop spores to attempt to innoculate another planet.

Which is much like how, our personal mushroom head spews a bunch of sperm to traverse great distance to innoculate the spherical egg in an attempt to get that spherical egg to grow more mushroom heads, which will drop more sperms to attempt to get more spherical eggs to grow more and continue the process...

man mushrooms aren't just our basis of intelligence, there the very basis for all reproductive progression

or Im just kidding around. Truth be told that was thought up when I was really high, naked, and marveling at the fact I have a mushroom between my legs

BUT THEN. Think about this. From the moment our planet first got inoculated with mushroom spores, monkeys found these mushrooms, human intelligence has been catalyzing. We have still been operating on a 'sperm conciousness' level. In the sense of, spew out of a bunch expendable dudes (sperm, military men) from a dick (war general, penis) to attempt to get one to catch on some thing and expand the enterprise. For all of human history, all progress came from that type of thought process. But now we've reached a point where the dick spewing army men mentality is no longer offering progression to the dick, but is hindering its progression, example The US war on Iraq. So by 2012, this sperm consciousness will be ending and the egg, the earth, is going to be fully inoculated, as in the sperm mentality has spread everywhere, and the new consciousness is going to be that of nurturing the spherical egg. And the egg will grow into a mushroom fit for the earth... a mushroom that drops larger spores? SAUCERS

gucci, perhaps you could outline the appropriate level of speculation? I for one prefer an existence with no borders.

The op was right about some things. Humans are in a dream like state. We only use one side of our brain at a time. And of hte side being used at any given time , only 5-10% of that half is being used. So we actually are walking around in a comatose like state , even though we think we are so much more aware than other living things.

However , I personally can;t agree about the LSD thing. While i love it and have had several good trips (i've taken excessive amounts) , it's still man made. Even though components of it occur naturally in ergot , it is still manually augmented with other chemicals.

Now mushrooms , in my humble opinion , are a true gift from the earth. Along with peyote and san pedro and other psychedelic plants and fungi.

well, we aren't natural either. like lsd, there is a trace of something wholly natural in us from which the synthesis is derived. yousaid so yourself, it's like we're walking around semi-comatose, self-lobotomized even. lsd is not really manmade if you think about it. it resulted in the accidental rearranging of certain molecules, at the same time atomic fission arrived in thw world and we were in a state of near-apocolyptic war. if you already believe that god is behind peyote, mushrooms, it's not a stretch to see that god was behind the synthesis of lsd. besides, your body performs a synthesis with mushrooms to extract the psycoactive compounds, just like you do a "manmade" extraction to gain said stuff from cacti or other plants before you can trip on them. it's still an artificial procedure, it's just less sophisticated than lsd synthesis.

i dont speculate either way. i prefer to not walk around daydreaming about what the fuck is going on because in my opinion nobody has the slightest clue of what the fuck this is all about. its all speculation. i try to think about things that are useful for my survival and neverending speculation about the universe and its ways isnt on that list.

    EDIT

but thats not to say i dont agree with the notion that we should be working together to better ourselves instead of fighting eachother. if we all worked together there is nothing we couldnt accomplish.

    Lysergic Acid Amide?

Maybe...There are tons of entheogenic substances (not only psychedelics) that can be used with a developmental approach so we can take looks into a conciousness which can not nescessarily be bought with the use of these drugs. (*Redundency*) It will take a certain kind of mindset before and after the use of these substances so we can establish our emotions and feelings within and about the experiences. Simply taking it is not enough. I, like whomever mentioned it before, believe in meditation and open discussion to further the development of this "conciousness." The human mind itself is one of great power. Enough power to take these experiences and use them to evolve in a completely new way.

I tend to continue on this adventure with all of you and experience more entheogenics. Regardless of our individual views on what psychedelics mean to the human race we are in a experimentation together to touch on ideas we could have never conceived. I love you all. Blaahhhh!

    Peace

'nothing is unnatural, except some things are less intelligent than others'
    -mckenna

    i love that quote

But I said that, and also this, in another thread. But really, I say LSD was given to us by angels.

For what purpose? Well I don't feel like we are meant to develop a symbiotic with it like the mushroom. But I do feel it was something completely necessary. I mean, nothing unbrainwashes people faster than LSD, nothing. Mushrooms, I've known people who have tripped on mushrooms a dozen times, developed a bunch of really insightful psychedellic or hindu-esque notions... but then still revert back to typical western rational models of comprehension for the vast majority of their perception. I say this to note, it seems the only people that manage to get completely out of all western delusions only manage to do it with LSD... Which is what I think it's there for. It's our chemical reset button, flush the toilet, polish the tiles. Then after you get it all clear again, I think it'd be ideal to develop the relationship with mushrooms or cactus...

Putting LSD aside mushrooms or cactus is just not ideal. They both hold an equally important place in humanities current situation, but they are for different things.

I agree that nothing is truly artificial...any reference I made to it was in the context of manmade vs. non-manmade.but our mental pandemic is manmade, and a manmade solution is sufficient.

Yea you have a point there. I guess by natural i meant organic. But i don't necessarily believe there is a "God" behind anything. The idea of any religion or religious deity is contrived by man. However , i do believe there is some entity , some type of force , that motivates the universe towards constantly heightening states of consciousness and complexity which in turn creates further simplicity.
