these are the dreams that you can control everything that you do and everything that goes on. usually you realize midway that you are dreaming, but that doesn't take away from how awesome they are. I have them every so often, anyone else?

I rarely have them, I've been drunk, stoned, or speeding since last summer so I've been out of it and tired for a while. I don't think I've had one since I was maybe 13 though.

is there any way to make them happen? it seems like it'd be awesome. I've had many dreams where I know I'm dreaming, but I can't change a damn thing (usually they're nightmares)

I miss these. I used to have them all the time, probably 3-4 times a week as a kid. They were cool at first, but since I had no attention span then, being stuck in a dream was annoying and boring. I stopped having them around age 10 when I actually developed an attention span, so maybe that's why. You notice so much more when it seems like it's slower.

Now I don't even remember my dreams at all. A few times a month I might get a hint of detail or a feint dream, and maybe a few times a year I'll have a full length dream. It's definitely the worst part about growing up.

that seems scary rasta? maybe you should see a doc

I can't have lucid dreams at will, probably like once a month, typically when I'm feeling good and daydreaming alot I'll have em. they are so fun though. one second i'll want it to rain and it will downpour. then i'll feel like flying and all the sudden i flap my arms and can fly.

i think they sort of have to do with having a vivid imagination.

anyone can learn to have lucid dreams, google lucid dreaming techniques if you're interested, although it can take some effort to start off.

I have them every so often, and think they're fascinating. If I have one I'm in a good mood for the rest of day.

P.S someone said it's hard not to wake up when you try too hard. Something i do to stop this is to look out for when things start becoming less vivid or scattered, and then spin round as fast as I can, and everything becomes more vivid. this almost always works and feels very interesting

I've had a couple, but I usually wake up soon after I realise that I'm dreaming. I would love to have a proper lucid dream that lasts a long time, it'd be like the matrix, I could do whatever I want, fly around etc.

I experienced a lucid dream on my first attempt last night. I was a passenger in a car and ran a reality check on my hand.

i then became aware i was dreaming, but got caught up in this thought and didnt manage to play around with it. soon i was taken back into sleep because the dream took an incredibly interesting turn and i stopped paying attention to my conscious awareness.

any tips on how to step from "im in a dream" to "i can do whatever i want in this dream"?

Keep practicing, get used to lucid dreaming, excitement makes your brain operate at a higher frequency, thus ripping you out of the dream state

    REMAIN CALM

i wasnt woken up by excitement. the dream landscape merely distracted me long enough that i fell back into a state of subconcious.

however, the rest of the night had several, well-remembered dreams. usually i am lucky to have shoddy memories of a single dream.

I tried it again last night, but was unable to achieve lucidity, and have very little memory of only a single dream near end of the night. I went to bed less tired, could that actually be a PROBLEM?

its been 2 more nights, and i have been unable to achieve lucidity again, and only recalled a single dream (tho in slightly higher than usual quality) last night.

this is despite doing reality checks every hour or so, doing much lucidity research late at night before bed, and going to bed repeating my intentions.

how can it be that my first attempt worked, but others havent? it seems like a strange fluke...

    you'll never have absolute control.

I remember this one lucid dream I had...it was sort of bittersweet.

I realized that I was dreaming, and I didn't wake up frome excitement. so I thought, ok cool, I think I'm gonna try to fly.

so I walk into the middle of the road (I'm downtown) and all these ppl are staring at me. I'm like squatting down like I'm about to take off, and I just can't fly. I mean, I knew I was dreaming, but I still couldn't fly.

So I got mad and punched two dudes in the face and then woke up.
