I was wondering if anyone here plays traditional African music. I have been playing jembe in an African drum and dance ensemble for almost two years now (not professionally like the African Ballet of Ghana or anything like that, but serious none the less). I meet many people who own jembe's or other traditional instruments but very few who play them in traditional styles. So does anyone here play or perform traditional African music? If so what area of Africa do your favorite rhythms come from? In my group we have been working on some music from Ghana recently like Fume Fume and Kpanlogo, although we don't have any kpanlogo drums right now. We also play stuff from Mali. Oh and if your not into African music check it out because its awesome.
