I'm going on a trip to South America this summer and the drinking age down there is 16, so I get to drink all day long. Could I bring booze that i buy down there back up to the states?
probably, especially if you are checking one of your bags. Wrap all the bottles with bubble wrap though and put them in plastic bags in case they break. Those guys that load bags aren't always the gentlest with peoples luggage.
yep. vapemaster is right. i wouldn't put it on carry on, but yea just put it in the bag check (where the bag is at the bottom of the plane) and they won't care.
You might have to declare it since its an international flight and you are bringing something from one country to another.
Yup. You HAVE to declare anything that is foreign to the country that your are leaving or entering to. If you don't and they catch you you'll get in big shit. And then you'll get in trouble for having alcohol underaged.
It's not like I plan to smuggle massive amounts of booze. I just think it'd be cool if, while down in Argentina, I could stock up on some nice tequila and cerveza and then i wouldn't have to worry about getting it at home. I don't know if they would go through my bags and find alcohol and then find it necessary to check if i'm over 21. I don't think it would be that suspicious for an American tourist to bring back foreign alcohol that they couldnt buy in the states.
you might have trouble at us customs cuz you are pocessing alcohol underage and thats a crime so you wont have a problem getting it out of south american but probally wont be able to get into the us with it in your posession
i don't think im gonna do it. not worth the risk if something did happen. ill be drunk most of the trip anyways ill need to rest my liver for a while when i get home.
its suprisingly not hard to smuggle alcohol. my sister took two bottles of absinthe from great britain to the states.
