lmao thats really funny idk why but.... it is. yeah golf is rally fun. me and two of my friends who are also members of the golf club always golf and smoke a few bowls on the back nine. then when we finish we go upstairs and eat scrumptious food.
Okay, quick golf lesson: One round of golf is 18 holes. That's average for what your weekend warriors play on any given Saturday or Sunday. Unless you're a retiree then it's every fucking day, lol!!! Anyhow, the pros play tournaments that last four days, starting on Thursdays & ending on Sunday. 18 holes per day equals 72 holes on golf. But we'll look at just scoring for an 18 hole course. The main rule of the game, unlike any other sport, the lowest score wins. Par: Basically means breaking even on the amount of strokes (a stroke is when you hit the ball). Each of the 18 holes already has a designated amount of strokes for which it takes to make it from the tee box (where you start) to the hole. It generally depends on how long the hole is. Meaning a hole that is 300 yards from start to finish may be a par three. That means to break even (par), it should take you three strokes to make it in that hole. Other holes are par four or par five, depending on the long it is. So it should take you that many strokes to make par. Birdie: "One under". Let's say you're at a par four hole. The golf course has designated that it should take you four strokes to make it in the hole. You make it in the hole in three strokes. That's a birdie. That's a good thing!! Again, the lowest score wins. Double Birdie: "Two under". Just like a birdie, only you make it in the hole in two shots less than what the par is. Very rare but it can happen. So let's say if a hole is 550 yards long & it's a par 5. Again, the golf course says you should be able to make it in the hole in 5 strokes. But you're a bad ass you sink it in just 3. That's a double birdie. Eagle: The same as a triple bogey. If you're at a par 5 hole & you're a super bad ass & you make the shot in just 2 strokes, you made an "eagle on that hole. That's the good side of golf scoring. Now for the bad side.... Bogey: "One over". Again, if you're at a par 5 hole & it takes you 6 strokes to make it in the hole, that's a bogey. Double bogey: "Two over". Exact opposite of a double birdie. Now par is also the term used for breaking even on the full amount of holes. If you play 18 holes, the par is usually 72, meaning it should take you 72 strokes total to break even on all 18 holes. So Tiger, I believe won the hole tournament with a one under. Sorry that was so long but I hope that helps.
dude i was doing the same thing the past few days. lol i was just skating, chilling, smoking doing whatever and watching it. i think its cool cause ive tried golf, and its hard as fuck so its cool to see some of them play. plus its rly relaxing.
he had surgery on it like a few months ago becuase he had a benine tumor in his knee and the recent surgery was just to clean it up
I think you got your golf terminology a little messed up whereami. A birdie is one under par on a hole an Eagle/albatross is 2 under on a hole A double Eagle is 3 under on a hole A bogey is one over a double bogey is 2 over and a triple bogey is 3 over Then theres the elusive Hole in one which makes you a super badass.
oh btw did anyone see tiger tee off on some hole on sunday and some guy yelled YABADABADOOO i laughed my ass off
did anybody watch the last day between just tiger and rocco mediate? i watched the first few holes but i heard it was pretty epic and they went into sudden death.
oh yea.. i watched it until the end... it was EPIC.. it will be talked about for quite some time.. it could have been enough to see Mediate on TW'09 lol personally i have NEVER played golf.. nor do i think i could.. i have a fucked up rotator cuff from a baseball injury.. and can no longer really put power behind my right shoulder without a 90% chance of dislocation
That's pretty much what I said, although I've never heard of an albatross. Eagle is two under par? Not exactly. It's still called a double birdie. If you make a hole in one on a par three, it's an eagle.
Wrong. Birdie is one under, eagle is two. Ask anyone who plays golf. Although you are correct about hole in one par 3 = eagle. Think about it, 3 strokes for par. 2 strokes for birdie. 1 stroke for eagle (aka 2 under par)
So you're saying a double birdie doesn't exist? On a par 5 let's say, you have 3 strokes = eagle = double birdie = two under par, right? Eagle just happens to be its official name? I don't play anymore but I do watch a lot of it.
I guess you could call it a double birdie but the real term is Eagle. and I retract my previous statement of saying an eagle is also known as an albatross an albatross is a double eagle or 3 under on a hole.
