hey guys, my friend recently pierced my ear witha safety pin. sterilized. heated. etc. He has done his. and one of my other friends before.. I left the pins in for a bit then tried to put in earrings. one hole closed up really fast. so he pushed it through again with the earring (very painful. i recomend just re piercing it with the pin). Anyways. i plan on moving into guages. My ears have been pierced for about 2 days now. not taking the piercings out. only for a quick cleaning. I was just wondering the best way to go about moving into guages. i have tried pushing a size 14 guage in. but it turned out to be more painful then the intial piercing. any help would be appreciated. =D
you really gotta wait for a few months if you want to avoid certain and intense pain and future complications. then start with 16g and dont skip any sizes. you dont want blowouts or catbutt. good luck!
alright. i think ill wait a week or two and purchase a 16g. i have a high tolerance for pain. so im not really afraid of it hurting that much. even though pictures of blowouts look quite nasty indeed.
it's not about whether you can tolerate the pain or not, it's about whether your body flesh is ready to stretch into a larger gauge. first of all, you really should wait until the original piercing is COMPLETELY healed first!!! this usually takes 1-2 months. otherwise you won't be stretching, you'll be tearing, and you'll end up with some really f-ed up earlobes (or whatever else you're stretching). when the skin becomes loose around the jewelry and it has been healed a while, then you can start to stretch. i had mine pierced years ago, so they were well healed. i went straight for the 14 gauge, because they were well healed and it didn't hurt at all to put the 14 in, just a little tight. that is how it is supposed to feel... tight but not painful. and yes... go one size at a time and don't skip. please please please give your body plenty of time to heal before you start stretching to larger gauges!!!
yea. if you stretch without it being fully healed thats were nasty infections and blowouts come from. I went up sized without being fully healed and i had an infection for like 3 or 4 weeks. I did sea salt soaks and everything 3 times a day. i ended up having to get antibiotics cuz it was causing pain in my neck. I pierced my other ear with a 12 g so i was kinda ahead of the game and it healed nicely. They should sell piercing needles at body jewelry stands and such.
Google this. I looked it up and there's a lot of things you need to look out for. Your piercings definitely need to heal first, and if you try to stretch too fast you can damage the ear lobe and it can scar. If you gradually stretch, your ears will be healthier. Plus, if you ever want to reverse it your lobes will be better able to stretch back down if you did the initial stretching properly. This is the site I read about it on. Check it out. arka-shop.co.uk
If you go ahead and stretch before it's healed, there is some possibility that it won't get infected if your immune system is good. You might be fine, but you will more than likely have problems. Your ear won't fall off. You're not going to die, but even if it doesn't become infected, it will probably scar badly. If you feel you absolutely must stretch that soon, be aware of the risks and the inevitable consequences and pay close attention to how your body reacts.
i wouldn't go promising that. an infection that could EASILY be caused by a safety pin (EEK!) piercing and then changing out jewelry AND trying to stretch before healed could forseeably cause the need for partial and/or total ear amputation if not properly treated. in addition, should an infection get into the bloodstream (which could happen through an UNHEALED piercing) the risk of death is still there. will it happen for sure? probably not. but don't go telling someone something won't happen unless you know for sure... and there's no way to tell that. not to mention, it is NOT hard to get piercing needles. i order them online all the time, as i do my own piercings. you can get them in all different gauges, sterile or nonsterile. i order mine (nonsterile) from steelnavel.com... or even better, you can get sterile needles from mspiercings.com (i think that's it). there is no reason you should be piercing something with a SAFETY PIN!!! that causes all kinds of trauma to the skin, as the pin is not very sharp, and god only knows where the fuck it's been.
I have both my ears stretched to 5/8" and I really messed up my left side in stretching. I skipped sizes, and stretched too fast. I have a small blowout on it now and its the consequence of my actions. I'm getting that taken care of right now. Oh and by the way, it took me 8 months to stretch to 5/8" on my left ear and a year to stretch to 5/8" on my right. I went to 3/4" on my right ear once but I had to downsize when I lost my jewelry for it and the only one i had left was the 5/8". oh well happy stretching.
It took me a long time to get up to 12mm, and I iontend to stay there. Wait until the ear is fully healed and go slowly, and give it plenty of tme between streaching. I know someone who ripped their earlobe and it was very painful, and looks horrible.
well now my ears are at 5/8" and 3/4" again, so im happy. I dont rush my stretches anymore. Its a rookie mistake that everyone can avoid but a lot of people dont. But no stretching can be as bad as shoving a 00G taper into a 12G hole just because you are lazy to stretch to that size. They look ugly as hell and are painful as hell. Your ear basically rips A LOT when this happens. But if you stretch this way though, you will probably keep your ear at that size for a while. I streched mine normally, and even when it got to 1/2", I thought that it was still pretty small while my friends said that they're massive. Eventually I got up to 5/8" and realised that I CAN PUT MY FINGER THRU MY EAR.
dude, you need time to heal... it really sucks what can happen just from skipping sizes or not giving enough time for your skin to relax a bit and get used to the streaching. I'm up to about a four and a two and I started about... half a year ago but I was a dumb ass and skipped a few sizes... (hurt like a bitch) Seriously I would not recomend skipping... oh and if you want some dank deals on gauges go to a beach and look into their local shops, they sell fairly cheap! Or if you have friends who are in the same quest for larger ear lobes I suggest trading...BUT DISSINFECT!!!! you dont wanna catch something nasty. I do this with my friends cause we're all poor...haha! Good luck dude! <3
I've got some gauges in my ears... but I've only gone up to an 8 so far. I skipped once, and ripped the crap out of my left ear I will NEVER do that again. You should always let your piercing heal completely before gauging and never skip a size! That's my opinion/advice anyway
Well for me the piercing hurt more than stretching (I'm at 2 now). I am pretty sure it is all in my head because of my hatred for needles. Just wait about a month in between stretching. I accidentally skipped over 4 and went from 6 to 2 (Used my girlfriends jewelry and thought it was smaller than it was). Luckily I have very thick earlobes so while it didn't rip it just hurt like a bitch. As long as it isn't in your cartilage though it shouldn't be that bad to stretch.
Ideally you should wait atleast four months after the piercing before you start stretching and after that you should leave atleast four weeks between each stretch (the longer the better though) Stretching shouldn't hurt, only a slight discomfort at most, if it hurts then you shouldn't force it and stay at the size you were for a couple more weeks. Also, you should take the safety pin out and go to a piercer and ask them to put a sterillised labret bar or barbell in the piercing. Oh and you can't sterillise a safety pin...
That just sounds like a bad idea to the OP. I would be more worried about infections and keeping it clean before I went to gauge it. Plus going to a 14 is a big step. But I don't listen to myself and I'm trying to fit a tapered ear ring through my ear tonight, making it from a 12 to a 6. It'll end up badly for me I'm assuming
