About a week ago I found a cool website that has a page where you can draw a medicine card. http://peacefulrivers.homestead.com/thepowerofanimals.html

    Here's what is says:

Below are Medicine Cards based on ancient Native American wisdom. They show the healing power animals bring us through each animal's unique ability. Once you are familiar with different Medicine Cards, whenever you happen upon an animal in your life, whether it be a photograph, or seeing one, you can be aware of their medicine and see what they are showing you about yourself in that moment. Before clicking a card, ask to be shown the animal medicine best for you right now.

So I drew the Wolf Card and here is what it said:

    Teacher

    Wolf...
    Teacher, Pathfinder,
    Moon-dog of my soul.

    Howling, Singing

    Teaching how to know

Wolf is the pathfinder, the forerunner of new ideas who returns to the clan to teach and share medicine. Wolf takes one mate for life and is loyal like Dog. If you were to keep company with Wolves, you would find an enormous sense of family within the pack, as well as a strong individualistic urge. These qualites make Wolf very much like the human race. As humans, we also have an ability to be a part of society and yet still embody our individual dreams and ideas.

In the Great Star Nation, Wolf is represented by the Dog Star, Sirius, which legend tells us was the original home of our teachers in ancient times. Sirius was thought to be the home of the gods by ancient Egyptians, and is still considered so by the Dogan tribe in Africa. It stands to reason that Native American peoples would formulate this same connection and adopt Wolf people as the clan of teachers.

The senses of Wolf are very keen, and the moon is its power ally. The moon is the symbol for psychic energy, or the unconscious that holds the secrets of knowledge and wisdom. Baying at the moon may be an indication of Wolf's desire to connect with new ideas which are just below the surface of consciousness. Wolf medicine empowers the teacher within us all to come forth and aid the children of Earth in understanding the Great Mystery and life.

If you have drawn Wolf's card, you may be able to share your personal medicine with others. Your intuitive side may also have an answer or teaching for your personal use at this time. As you feel Wolf coming alive within you, you may wish to share your knowledge by writing or lecturing on information that will help others better understand their uniqueness or path in life. It is in the sharing of great truths that the consciousness of humanity will attain new heights. Wolf could also be telling you to seek out lonely places that will allow you to see your teacher within. In the aloneness of a power place, devoid of other humans, you may find the true you. Look for teachings no matter where you are. Wolf would not come to you unless you requested the appearance of the tribe's greatest teacher.

Buffalo me. Buffalo is about abundance. Here's the passage about buffalo I found most telling and useful:

If you have drawn the Buffalo card, you may be asked to use your energy in prayer. You may also be called upon to be an instrument of someone else's answer to a prayer. This could portend a time of recognizing the sacredness of every walk of life, albeit different from your own. To honor another's pathway, even if it brings you sadness, is a part of the message that Buffalo brings. This may be a time of reconnection to the meaning of life and the value of peace. Most assuredly this time will bring serenity amidst chaos if you pray in earnest for enlightenment and the power of calmness and give praise for the gifts you already have. [this passage definitely applies right now]

Buffalo medicine is a sign that you achieve nothing without the aid of the Great Spirit and that you must be humble enough to ask for that assistance and then be grateful for what you receive.

I don't have any medicine cards anymore (or sacred path cards), so it's nice to have some online. I see there's only 9 cards at any time but that's just a detail eh.

I drew the mountain lion also ... calling for a need for integrity in a position of knowing or power 'power comes with responsibility' as they say. It asks me to walk my own path despite what others may be doing. Others may find this alienating and strange and one may become a scapegoat in their eyes.
In short it suggests i just keep balanced and walk my path.

I do like Jamie Sams alot, she came to England several years ago and with a couple of friends, i went along to a two day seminar with her. She's a great speaker and knows how to talk to a large number of people. She was mainly talking about Earth changes and this 'spiritualisation of matter' thats going on ...an increasing dimensional awareness and resulting new Earth. Everything seen a different way.
She is one of the three powerful voices in my life who have told me that my path is somewhat different than most and i've yet to really discover how. I'm told that my thing doesn't exist yet in the world so i have to be it... trailblaze it. This is something that is still unfolding.
I dreamed of Jamie Sams after that time also, one particularly was full of feeling and warmth as we held hands accross a table. No words but a force of understanding and compassion ...as if giving me strength and patience just to continue in hard times.
I think this is why i like her so mutch, coupled with the fact she reminded me of a girl i played music with and got close to. There was something very familiar there anyway.

Mountain Lion-Leadership-Can be a very difficult power totem for you to have because it places you in a position to be a target for the problems of others. You could be blamed for things going wrong or for always taking charge when others can't. You could become the perfect justification for the insecurities of others. Mountain Lion medicine involves lessons on the use of power in leadership. It is the ability to lead without insisting that others follow. It is the understanding that all beings are potential leaders in their own ways. The use and abuse of power in a position of influence are part of this great cats medicine. By observing the graceful pounce of Mountain Lion you will learn how to balance power, intention, physical strength and grace. This relates in human terms to the balance of body mind and spirit. The giant feline never wastes anything. It only kills what it needs for survival. The female lion is the hunter who graces her table in a style akin to mother energy. If Mountain Lion has come to you in dreams it is a time to stand on your convictions and lead yourself where your heart takes you. Others may choose to follow and the lessons will multiply. If you have pulled the card of Mountain Lion you may be asked to review the purpose behind your personal beliefs. You may need to discover whether or not your plans include a pride of cubs wanting to be like you or to share in your dreams. If you are already a leader the question may be whether or not the time has come to push the cubs out of the cave. If you are aligned with cat medicine you are considered to be "king of the mountain" and never allowed to be human or vulnerable. The pitfalls are many, the rewards great. In assuming the place of power that Mountain Lion affords, you must constantly be aware of keeping the peace. However you can never make everyone happy unless you lie to yourself or others. This is hjuman nature. Therefore the first responsibility of leadership is to tell the truth. Know it and live it. And your example will filter down to the tiniest cub. Panic is not a part of this sacred medicine.

Does anyone have a pack? ... or a Ted Andrews book? I'd like to know what they say about Snake. I'm familiar with it's symbology of earth energy and kundalini, transformation and renewal, also death and devouring. But i'd like anyones thoughts on snakes really.

I had a dream a few nights ago:
I was standing in bare feet on warm dry sand all bathed in a luminescent, high bloom, high contrast light ...an amazing quality of light. There were many small snakes, only a foot long around my feet, different kinds with amazing rich patterns and colours, purples and greens and orange. Now and again a snake would strike at my feet and miss or i'd move my feet out of it's way. Other snakes would come together in writhing balls for moments and disperse again, and one snake bit me on the ankle.
I was thinking "Small snakes are often the most venomous." and i was wary of the snakes, not knowing which was venomous and which was not. However the bite i recieved didn't feel venomous.
Mostly i was taken up in the vision of these snakes in this light ... and my bare feet. I dont think i ever saw my feet in a dream before? :)

I then had a dream about lots of herbs and flowers ... there's a woman i know who grows an amazing variety of herbs and salad flowers and leaves, it's staggering and i think it's great so in the dream i'm just seeing and smelling all these herbs in this same clear light as before and just getting into this rich experience.

Gee liquid...the blurb on Snake in Teds book is about 3 pages long. But one paragraph jumped out at me.....Any time Snake shows up as a totem you can expect death and rebirth to occur in some area of your life. A transition. Look for a change in conditions and a movement to new life. Examine what is going on around you. Are you needing to make changes but aren't for some reason? Are you trying to force change too quickly? Are you striking out at people and shouldn't? Are you not striking and should? Remember that a snake not only uses its venom and bite to overcome prey but also for defence. WHAT IS NEEDING TO BE HEALED? What new opportunities are surfacing that you need to strike out for and take advantage of.....

Thanks windy. Change IS apparent in my life right now. Since October my life seems to have changed for the better ... Basically i've not been worrying so mutch and trusting in the universe to look after me without panicking and trying to control every detail (through a lack of trust). I'm happier and feeling more free, less fear, more love.
Still doing the same things but with a different perspective. Letting things be i suppose.
So i feel mutch happier just living and life now holds promise where for the last ten years i feel like i've been dead ...sleeping, too mutch fear and uncertainty, everything mundane and i've been keeping a safe distance and 'working on myself' for a long time.
In part i think my dream reflects this new life ... the rich light and colours and variety ...and me finding it all so fascinating and stimulating. Sexual energy is perhaps apparent in the snakes 'balling' together (they mate like this don't they?) ...indeed i have felt an increase in sexual energy and libido since october also ...less fear again ..i've always had stupid debilitating fears around sex. It's a fear of losing myself, being devoured and not being in control ...my egos fear of dying. Snakes, earth energy and kundalini ...and the conciousness that comes with it are really urging me to come back to life and deal with my fear of the body, my fear of the pain of loving and living and dying, urging me to be human ...for a while.
So i feel i've been bitten by life, but does my bite on the ankle represent a weakness? An Achilles heel? I've been attracting a few women recently which hasn't happened in a while and it's kinda knocked me off my safe center as an individual,...and, is driving me a bit nuts to be honest! :)
Maybe the snakes represent women ...some venomous, some not. So i need to be careful.

heh heh...maybe that was a "love bite" from that little snake and it wasn't so bad after all. Or maybe it was that "love bug" and what do ya know :) it didn't kill ya. As for women being some venomous and some not, I think that is people in general male or female. Regardless, I am very glad that your life is turning around for the better. Emotional pain is sooo much harder to deal with than physical pain...peace to you liquidlight....

By the way liquid, your dream sounds so amazingly positive, that I honestly think some magic is coming your way. I mean, just the way you describe the colours and light. Ya, I sure do think you have some positive action goin' on inside you :) The snakes really didn't seem like a negative thing.....

i think snake is power , or in other words :
potential , survival , having ability and talent ,
or it can be sexual (as in physical survival) .

in the nevada desert at a petroglyph site
is an ancient altar stone . two snakes are
    intricately carved on it .

then relatedly , the snake makes the wave-sign as it moves along . this can be connected to the motion of water - the life essence as it speaks .

to the Nez Perce ( the Nee-me-poo ) the Great Snake had at one time eaten all the animal , coyote (itsi-ya-ya) saved them by exploding that beast from within , and then from its far-flung parts the peoples were born . the heart of the Snake lies along the Clearwater River in Idaho .

The morning after the dream i walked to work, pondering on it ...thinking about the caduseus (emblem of healing and wholeness) with it's entwined snakes, sword and winged disk. Thinking about the eagle as snakes equal opposite and the winged serpent (Quetzalcoatl) and how i need to balance these two energies and bring the two side by side, working in partnership, but male energy has always been difficult to understand for me ...i have a twin sister and was riased by my mother and my father hasn't been mutch of a father figure ...so the feminine has always been predominant in my life and i've lacked purpose/ambition and identity , basically meaning i've been wandering about not knowing what to do with myself!
Over the last couple of weeks i've been inviting the 'archangel michael' (hey why not eh?) to come and help me release self destructive ideas/beliefs/habits from my life and help me to open my crown and let some male energy and cosmic understanding in (ok i hate steriotyping these energies ...there's always yin in yang and yang in yin and i know they are both one thing manifested differently).
...so i'm considering the eagle and wondering where it is in my life. A whole load of bikers rode into town that morning and all rode past my workplace and it kinda put a smile on my face (since i'd been thinking about eagles) because i realised i was seeing literally hundreds of eagles wings...on the bikes and jackets. It was a relief to find this balance for my dream of that morning. It really felt like the heavenly host of angels, the bird tribes, had arrived. A couple of them nodded at me as they passed and i nodded back with a big grin on my face. I guess you would have had to have been there, it was so cool and i felt blessed. At last some telling of balance!

But i'd like to know from you lot what your ideas or understanding about male and female energy are?

The male energy is active, using force to manifest. The female energy is more passive and receptive, nurturing what is received, accepting what is given.

yaya , i got some funky old medicine that lately i've illustrated and made into cards . let's see . the drawings are just intuitive sorts of doodles . there's a few that got oriented male-female .

female : the Great Mother , and also a Hopi Magic Moon Woman .

the great mother represents all peoples ; what it is to be human ; how we are connected .
a magic moon woman holds the essences , that which is constant through-out changes and thus makes evolving possible .

male : the Red Hat in the Sky , and Arrow , and Elk-Man Dancing .

red hat is fatherly grace ; a tallness - an aboveness - respectable and seeing far .
the arrow is to go forth and far , with a sense of becoming more and more .
elk dancer is wild , fearlessly playful , engaging all .

in the balance is One Space ... of home and peace within , and then the extent of that is all around and ever so far as you can see .

    O
    .
    .
some of my cards i guess are native and homey . there's thirty of them altogether . the reggae iree in there too - and some geometric logic , cartoon sexy bugs and galactic space creature stuff .

Hey nice. I can really resonate with your cards.
I've been cultivating some elk dancer medicine over the last several months ...been thinking about trusting the flow and guidance in my day to day life and surrendering and engaging with it, ..non resistance to what is and finding acceptance. So this engaging is fun right now and i feel i'm kinda getting into the swing of things ... doing it just lets the magic happen. Really learning to trust and let go of fear.

Arrow feels like constantly moving and passing through, Direction and traveling. Initiative. Proactive. Fearless also and keen perception.
...I've always lacked direction in life but then i've mainly been on an inward journey. I feel arrow but i want more, a sense of knowing with purpose.

Red hat?! It that the sun or a kind of hawk or something?

Magic moon woman ... wow she's always really hot :) Reminds me of probably my first ever dream years ago, of a real goddess like figure ...beautiful, silver haired woman with magical eyes in starry cloak and starry sky with the full moon above her gypsy caravan. I'd almost forgotten that amazing dream.
My dreams of the triple goddess tell me that she is my guide and my anima and my twin. She steers my fate sometimes ...probably all the time :) But she is me and me her.
Then there are dreams of the cow goddess, the Mother, our Mother, Both earthly and cosmic. Always giving and nurturing, always loving, always compassion.
The Romans likened Hathor to Aphrodite, a hearth and love goddess and i can see why.
I havn't dreamed of any wierd male figures in a while and i think my mind just wants to find out what it is ...exactly! LOL. Purpose. Intent. Moving and working towards. Will. .. All things i need more of ;)

that red hat card depicts an enormous man's red top hat . the mystery within it is of time and a tee-pee in the sky .

one hopi prophesy is of the man with the red hat - when he comes , balance is restored to life purpose and willful action .

so , i get funny sometimes . my first red hat was wooly and norwegian , but it oops shrunk in the clothes drier to the size of a little kid's head . then i made a cotton red hat and travelled around a few years . that one just wore out beyond repair . so i found some nicer red material in a dumpster and sewed together another , and a kentucky wonder-joke woman just at that time gave me a wing-design embroidered patch that got stitched to the front .

some while and again later i read that prophesy . huh ... i thinks ...

i thinks i'll go to the southwest and maybe the natives will think this or that about this hat . arrived . walked to the center of the old pueblo and played the river flute , and drank from the cold stream , and took from that stream some old turned-to-stone tooth . then i left and returned the next year , or probably it was the next-next year . this time i happened to drop by the casino to get some free coffee . they made me go sit outside like the good bum i am . soon an old woman came by and looked at the hat and the eyes of me . saying nothing . smiling . patting the top of her head as she walked past .

last summer i lost my red road hat hitch-hiking through wyoming and haven't intended to make another . a more real-to-me prophesy is : it shall be returned when we are together one people ... which is like next week .

First of all liquidlight I loved your biker story. That's pretty cool :) Anyway I am glad that bluesafire came up with this medicine card site. I know that Owl is one of my totems and since drawing the Mountain Lion card I see it very strong in my life right now. As Mountain Lion has to do with personal power which is something I am struggling with. Just picturing that ol' cougar in my mind actually helps me to speak up. Speak my truth. I found another site on animal totems and it mentioned that Owl and Cougar are connected in some versions of Cherokee Creation Story. They were the only 2, to stay awake during 7 nights of creation. Creator blessed them with night vision, keen eyesight, hearing. The Guardian Partner of Mountain Lion is Bear. Well 4 maybe 5 yrs. back, I picked a pietersite? stone out at a new age type store. Well you can see pictured in the designs in the stone an Owl a Cougar and a Bear. The cougar is in mid-scream and part of its' face looks like it is melting, I like to think it is maybe shapeshifting into something else. Anyway, just thought that was kinda cool :)
