Hey guys, a hello from Aus, An G'day to any Aussies too :).

I've read Hip forums for a while and only recently decided to join. For a few months now I've been VERY envious of allot of other countries, where buying Salvia is legal.

Salvia sounds like an amazing experience but... It seems that it is unobtainable here. Now has anyone actually heard (or know, for you Aussies out there) of it being in Australia? Or some way to get my hands on it.

It was a pretty big annoyance when I realized that this was one of the very few countries, short sighted enough to ban it.

Also is there allot of media attention to getting it banned in the states? Because I don't think I ever heard about it on new or anything over here. Maybe I just never noticed.

Anyway, any info would be awesome, thanks guys - awesome forum :cheers2:

Well like you say, it is illegal in Australia, but it doesn't have the demand that coke or e or heroin does and it never will so no one is going to be bothered smuggling it in to sell illegally. Your best bet would probably be to buy some seeds online and grow your own, the plants themselves are illegal but I don't think the seeds are. Or you could book a flight to NZ as it's still legal over there.

I think the seeds are banned under our laws. Although cured seeds are not, but I think that means that they are infurtile and cannot grow? Correct me if I'm wrong there though. There are allot of groups trying to overturn the ban on Salvia over here, although the laws a vague and unenforceable it means no company will ship to Australia. Unfortunately I am starting to think the only way of getting to experience this will be to travel overseas in a few years.

However, I think there are some Aussies in these forums who have tried salvia, so if your out there, any insight on obtaining some would be greatly appreciated.

it is considered a schedule 8 and no matter how hard
people want it legal. this will never happen as it's about
    politics and $$$$
    edited to add
why not try other recreational drugs. they will be easier to find
than salvia australian drugs laws are not too bad. Unless you get
    greedy

hm yeah I guess legalization is not going to happen here :(. The problem is allot of other drugs have effects I'm not after, or are very difficult to get. LSD is probably the only thing that would tempt me but a several hour trip would be very intense and quite inconvenient.

Ah well. Well see how I got, thanks guys for ya help :)

No American in this forum should be kicked back about our Salvia laws, it's just a matter of time before it's outlawed here as well. A handful of states have already outlawed it. It will be EVERYWHERE SOON ENOUGH with THOSE dumb f**ks posting their video experiences on youtube. As soon as parents see those videos, they'll start trippin' too, and not in the good way!

That is a good point. It would be a shame for you guys to loose it. However it been legal in the states for a good period of time so I think it will still be easy to find if it is outlawed. But still making something illegal should not be done without thought. It would be probably only one or two percent of people who think it should be outlawed in the states who actually know anything apart from what they have heard in news reports. The rest hear legal and drug and its automatically evil. I mean hey lets think back to DHMO guys!

Keep writing letters to your states guys (not sure how US legal system works) try and delay the laws as much as possible!

    P.S.-I love you Ozzies!!
Go grab some from the Kiwis....I found this on Erowid.com. A very important resource...Mind you--the following IS unconfirmed.

    New Zealand:
Salvia divinorum is legal to buy, sell and possess in New Zealand, with an R18 age restriction on sales. It is commonly sold "party supply shops" (shops that sell BZP party pills and other non-alcoholic drugs), and in herbal stores (sometimes as "incense"). (unconfirmed) (thanks E, J)

And also....See if you can lay your hands on San Pedro Cactus. If cured properly, I understand it's an awesome buzz, very soul-rendering. I'm working my way up to it.:D

Hehe thats true. When I was doing some farm work out west we had some American visitors, first time in the country. Went out to meet them the pull up in their rented car, and I greet them from my horse with a cheery G'day. Nice stereotypical introduction :) Almost as good as the 7ft tall Roo, massive wolf spiders and, the drop bears :p Oh their faces :D

Little off topic but, well I started the thread :)

It is nice when you can get it at the markets, or having those memories of your grandma giving it to you as a remedy for the stomach-aches, its part of the culture, and I think one of the reasons it could be banned from certain countries is the inexistent culture and ignorance about the origins and primary uses of something that is considered holy in other places. The bussiness industry and politics lacks of knowledge on the importance of culture and true traditions...

The good things are for share, even in he most remote location of this earth...

    Good luck with the quest.

PS. Do a litle research on Maria Sabina, or Mazatecs Culture in Mexico

Hmm I would be pretty sure little to no actual research would have been done over here before they banned it.... so sad, but thank I shall continue the research!

Such a flirt tiger! The visitors did end up staying, but they were super nervous when we mentioned wolf spiders..... They chase you, not fast in a straight line but they'll climb walls and jump at ya , try to trap you into a corner, anything to get you. We laughed at their responses though. Not exact but this is the general theme for every wacky creature and critter we described.

Mark (visitor) "Spiders can....JUMP.. as in leap into the air? "
Me: "Oh whoa yeah! Some of the more aggressive ones will wait on the roof and drop in on you, sometimes they'll hiss first though"
Mark: " HISS!!! HOW BIG ARE THESE THINGS?"
Me: "We've ah...got big birds Mark"
    Mark "uh...huh?"
    Me "Birds, they eat Birds"

Is it so weird that our spiders eat birds, our birds laugh at you, and we have an egg laying mammals? Although I have to admit the Roo's are plain Hilarious when they start boxing... Yes they box. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XhNeKkJ3zk&feature=related

This has more turned into weird wacky Australia but oh well :p

    LOL,
Sorry, If I could figure out a way to send it to you, without getting you or me arrested, I'd do it.

But it looks like you will have some luck with the Kiwis. Kiwis are cool, I've got a Kiwi supervisor, she's one of the few people I actually like at work.
Good luck in your quest. You'll figure something out I'm sure!

On Jun 1, 2002, Australia became the first country to ban the possession of Salvia divinorum. Salvia divinorum and salvinorin A are listed in Australia's strictest schedule, Schedule 9. Although there is some minor variation in state law, the federal controls take precedence. According to Shaman Australis (see Salvia Divinorum legal information), the live plants are also illegal, although there is a chance that seeds are not covered under the current law.

I'd love to try salvia it sounds like an amazing experience, unfortunately it looks like i wont get a chance unless i get my self over to Europe. As its a bitch to grow i looked into getting seeds but all the information i found said seeds are usually infertile and do not grow and plants very rarely produce seeds so thats probably out of the question too. Also i cant imagine too many people over here having any as there is no market for it and most people over here done even know what the hell it is
