ahh. i wouldnt want to have access to american food... very unhealthy most of the time. Although i cant really say its better or worse than food in the UK, as i have never been there. Anyway, i'm not sure if your talking about american food, as in american style of cooking. or american food, as in american made products. If its the products, i'd say just stick to your local stores. because you're probably not missing much.
What is American food ? We just steal ideas from what other people eat and then just smash it all together and eat it. I like Mcdonalds. Peace
so far j0hn, I've found that anything labeled over here as 'American' is very far from what the item would be like if you bought it in America. best really to just go hunting for some recipes online that are from people living in the States and make some tasty treats for yourself that way. like i have a great recipe for chocolate/peanut butter/oatmeal 'stovetop' cookies ... i haven't made them in years though as they are so yummy i tend to eat too many of them.
Sounds more like a "hypermarket" to me. They're usually supermarkets, but they have smaller shops in the same building for stuff like shoes, watches, stuff like that. :cheers2:
we call them supermarkets, too. i have no idea what silverhippy is talking about. must be a regional thing. remember, the USA is as big as europe. we have safeway and king's sooper.
Safeway! I think theyre all closed down here now...remember being taken round in the trolleys as a kid, also slapped because i wouldnt stop crying. Hmm
I came across of a lot of american, canadian and australian shops yesterday as i wandered around. very expensive though.
it comes from generations of eating nothing but scraps. chitlins, trotters, haggis, mountain oysters, etc. If all you've got is the head of a cow, and you and your family are starving because that's all you got, you'd be damned right if you aint gonna make that cowhead taste good, brains, eyes, and all. (BTW, the cheeck of a beef or pork is REALLY good!) Man you guys are sheltered....
it's true, though. y'all aren't known for your fabulous cuisine, you know. however, those dirt poor "inbred southerners" have figured out a way to make ANYTHING taste good.
