so i back combed about two months ago and my hair is coming along nicely. i removed all of the elastics recently and put a wood bead at the roots of the weakest looking locks. i was wondering if there is anything i should be aware of when it comes to beads, any disasters i can prevent. i don't really want any of the beads to get stuck and become permanent. also my friend just got me an awesome glass bead that i don't want to break--would it be smart to wait for a while so that the locks are thick enough for it to stay in? i don't know how often beads tend to fall out but i don't want to risk it.
beads can get stuck in your dread if you leave them in one spot for too long. i have at least two that will never come out. if its wood, you can sometimes break it though. you could just try to put the glass bead in and see how tight it is. everyones dreads are different of course so its hard to say.
The only concern I've ever had with beads in my dreads is that the big ones hurt sometimes when you're sleeping and roll over onto them, haha. I know it sounds silly but it's something to think about. Personally I'd say try the glass one out and if it doesn't fit in secure and snugly, maybe wait on that one.
if your dreads are long you probably dont need to worry about them falling out if you put em at the root. If the bead is too small you can always put it around two dreads.
lol yeah, ive had to take some out because they hurt like a bitch to lay on or try to get my helmet over.
