I had a woodstove like this years ago but never used it. It had a rare scene and due to the scene I sold it for a pretty penny (no not here, lol) Anyway I am looking at getting another woodstove and wondered if any of you are familiar with this style? Hows it work, heat good? ect.

it looks like the blower is on the top and maybe you feed it through the sides?

It only accepts babies, not wood.

    Feed your stove god!

i dont think thats a blower on top,,i think its older than that..
it looks like the top is just vented for radiant heat to flow out but i may be mistaken..

definitely side load, which i dont care for,the doors are never big enough to tend to the fire properly..

if however that is a new enough model to have the blower on top they are pretty efficient...

have you considered a model with ducting yank?

if i was building a new house i would probably go with a ducted wood heater system.. they make them for basements as well as the conventional style that the ducts run up into the attic then to other rooms of the house..

they cost a bit more but well worth it in the long run for the kinda house your building..
i assume its a ranch, and 44 feet is a long way from one end of the house to the other for the heat to radiate..

if i can be of more help on that or the insulation on your house just let me know as the company i work for deals in both and im fairly knowledgeable on the subject...

Yes your right on the money. Its a Jotul design, extra chamber up top . Door is side mount, small and yes they are a pain. Supposed to be a front to back burn set up like a cigar but I dont understand that. I like fires, big hot fires.

Yes I have been talked out of it (whole side load small door idea) I mean if you used really small wood it would work but then all day and night feeding it would suck.

I just want a quaint woodstove, put a pot on top if ya want, front load, prefer glass door to see it, air tight. I had a wood king (well it was actually a coal king) and they kick ass but ugly.

I looked into wood furnaces and outdoor ones and ect and really they are great but I just dont like them, I want the look too.

My cabin is tight, built with the stove to go in the center so its 22' of travel side to side and 11' of travel the other direction for it to heat ( was thinking ahead).

are you looking at new or used in a stove? about what size are you thinking of and what price range??if you were closer i could get you whatever you wanted wholesale, but i still may be able to steer you in the right direction if ya want...

sounds like the placement will be ideal for heat displacement,,with a couple well placed ceiling fans..

I want a typical trader price ( Brand new for free) lol I have found several on ebay I would buy but sadly all too far away.

I am trying to stay under $400.00 for a used one.

This is my dream stove but the $4000.00 price tag says "hell no"

I had one kind of like this, except older. The thing got so hot,
I woke up one night to poke it, and it was glowing red.
I bent over to pick up some wood, and my ass hit the edge of it
and I had a scar for years from it. A nice line across my butt cheek.
So ridiculous, I do love the woodstoves though

    lol ^

umm,,when a stove is glowing red theres no need to put anymore wood in it...:p

yank 400 for a used one,,ya should be able to find one in that style ,but it may take a while..(there more than that wholesale for a good one that style)
if you buy one off EBay with glass doors MAKE SURE you get a guarantee..
the glass doors are prone to warping and once they warp there hell to seal up properly, and it doesnt take much just the tiniest of cracks to have a problem..

then you have damping problems and they become inefficient as hell..
they wont glow red hot like oneness said,,but they sure as hell will make ya fret over a chimney fire..

i know,,the one we have up at the cabin has a warped door(it was free)..

we are looking at getting a replacement door(me and my boss) but the model has been discontinued so we are having to do some searching of dealers..
