I have heard from some people that when they wash their hair they avoid scrubbing or moving their hair that much to avoid taking out any dreads, they just put the soap on their heads any let it wash out, what do you guys think?

Also should you air dry,pat-dry or towel dry when TRYING to form dreads?

I'm pretty sure you can scrub. :p Never hurt mine last time I had them. Also, I would air dry, but squeeze the water out of your dreads first. Mine are mostly dry right after I squeeze them in the shower even! Don't worry.. :) Just don't condition!

Scrub a bit but don't pass your fingers trough the hair, I towel dry and let my hair free after, blowing air on my dreads dont seem to help, which is why wearing a wool hat is good outside too.

You shouldn't put the wool hat on while your dreads are still wet, though. Beware of mold!

Yeah i need a good answer to this question also when going natural. Should you scrub your hair real good in the shower and rub with a towel to dry off? it just seems to undo everything and make my hair crazy all over eachother. Or is it better to just lightly wash with as little vigor as possible and just let it free and dry on its own? or with a towel wrapped around?

i notice this too.. i try not to scrub so hard or big just little by little, trying not to run my hands through my hair. squeeze the excess water as much as i can then pat it lightly to avoid dripping everywhere and a towel over shoulder to avoid wetting my shirt. air drying works well, as well spraying salt water, air dry then rinse.

Yeah i use a mix of 2 squirts bronners and maybe a half a teaspoon of sea salt in.. i would say a 14 oz old shampoo bottle. and wash it out real good afterwards. Works well i think.
