I remember man landing on the moon and thinking, yes we're on our way.

That was years ago and I'm more sceptical now.

Are there any fresh young minds out in this world on which we play who still beleave mankind will succeed.?

Yeah, The problem is any idea is totally shot down because we are young. We must get age first before people listen :)

We just don't fund NASA as fully as we should and we let politicians decide what needs to be done for our reach into space, not experts in the field. Also, as a side note, a thought that just came to me. If we funded NASA better we could stimulate the economy by creating jobs for the record number of collage graduates that can't get one due to everyone under the sun having a degree now. Don't get me wrong educating everyone isn't a bad thing, we just need to find something for everyone to do with their education.

The beginning of REAL space exploration is still several decades away. The truth is we just have more important things to spend that money on right now. For every dollar we spend trying to send someone to Mars, we could be researching an AIDS cure, or investing in nanotechnology start-ups, or helping to create the next generation of computers.

Space exploration's time will come...but not for a while yet. In the mean time, there are a number of promising things NASA can be working on with the funds they have, such as the space elevator.

Space exploration is a waste of time as far as I'm concerned; the more we concern ourselves with conquering new frontiers, the less concerned we are for one and ONLY home. That's just not good.

    The Trouble is distance.

Yeah we can go to the moon, it only takes 3 days to get there. But Mars takes 2 years each way, and the rest is just a ridiculous amount of time for Human missions.

We need a much faster propulsion system just to get around the solar system.

And we need faster than light speed if it is even possible to get out of the solar system.

wouldnt it be concieveable that alien peoples might have cures for diseases that we ourselves cannot cure and vica-versa. i mean its very possible.

Well, people who claim to be abducted state that aliens are using humans for genetic engineering research. But I find claims of being abducted dubious, and ultimately since they can't be proved, unbelieveable.

Personally, I think that if there are aliens, making contact with them will not benefit the human race.

Not even if we discover extra-terrestrials with a superior level of social and technological knowledge to our own? Or rather, if they discover us.

The amount spent on space is a pee in the ocean.. the discoveries found in space ultimatly help us understand our own planet more.. Its not a waste of time at all .

That assumes that they are carbon-based life forms, and that their immune systems (if any) function the same way as ours. Also, it assumes that the alien peoples deal with the same diseases as we do.

I wouldn't doubt that there are things out there. They might just be more animal in nature..

What are the odds that this one planet in the universe(multiverse even?) is the only one with life? Slim to none, in my opinion. There are plenty of ways to get energy. All they need is a hospitable climate SOMEWHERE on the planet.
