They're probably too expensive for the two of you. You're 19. An IUD runs $350.00 - $450.00 depending on where you go, and who is inserting it. They're NOT something you want to play around with in terms of going to just anyone to get it done. You want a reputable, reliable doctor. Otherwise, you risk pelvic inflammatory disease during insertion. Which is very serious and can lead to sterility. Furthermore, though they have been approved for women without children, A LOT of doctors will refuse to put one in if she hasn't had a child. I know it's weird ... but, on the other message board I post, SO many young women complain they can't find a doctor who will insert the IUD. It's also not without consequences, like any birth control, so it's really a decision she'd need to discuss with her doctor. If condoms break so often on you - you're using them wrong. Seriously. Get a bigger size or a different brand, or something like that. But, they should NOT be breaking that often. Otherwise, she can always go to Planned Parenthood for the pill.
