I've always been one to love vintage cars more than life itself...

Ok... I'm not going to push it that far. :p but you get my point.

    glad to hear it bro
I went to a car show today and saw some nice cars.
I also worked on my car today which isnt much of a classic however it is 13 years old.
It is a 1991 SAAB. A sweet little hatchback that wil be fun for camping out in the woods once I get it running.
Anyone have experience in airbrushing? I'm gonna try to teach myself once i get the car running and some time.

    peace and out

    physictrip,
There are good airbrushing technique books at the library.
Then if you decide you want to give it a go, there are great prices at www.currys.com on airbrush rigs and paint.

    PEace,

a classic is considered a car 25 years or older an antique is considered something in auto terms 75 years old.

Hi Joshua, remember your car by virture of its history and popularity is considered a true classic car. As much as possible try to keep the parts original or original reproduction. The car will be worth far more money if its kept in original or near original condition;with reguard to replacement parts. Luckly every part for the 55 thru 57 Chevrolet is being remanufactured in the after market or in some cases by Chevrolet. Good luck with your new car...:)

(Pacific Gas& Electric or something. That was a band long ago, pretty good too, from what I can remember!) Meanwhile...CONGRATS on your baby! I have a funky, old Suburu wagon I hope to get runnin' again, she's not an old Beetle, but has tons of personality(for a piece of steel.)Right now she's a dandy storage unit! I enjoy working on cars! I have ADD & love to tinker,it's just hard to get ALL those screws back in their proper places,HA! The folks at the local AUTOZONE are great! AND YES,give us photos!

    Peace WE,

sorry for my short absence. i have been thinking about wha ti should do.
i came up with 2 ways i could go about this.

A- get car running then restore her. but to do so i have to put all the parts back on the guy took off to restore her.

    or

B- scence most of the interior is already taken apart and alot of the motor and some exterior, finish stripping down the car and restore her now.

i am leaning tward B because it can take MONTHS to strip down a car before you even begin to start working on them. and it wont cost as much because i have most of the interior and 1/3 of the motor taken apart and restored already! hehe. first think i have to do. is get a new AC Delco fuel pump. the old one is done for. and a new IN Line fuel filter! cheap though. i am jsut looking for a new AC Delco fuel pump under $40 it HAS to be for a 57 Chevy passenger car. V8 283. that is why teh car wont run. the fuel pump is done for. here is what needs done. the worst thing is the rust. that is VERY bad. i will with my dad and the guy who will work on my car strip her down and catalog and sort the stuff. take the body in and get it sanded and primed. let my uncle Cliff paint her. he is getting better at it so i will let him do the work. and the chassis also. i have rubberized black corrosion resistant primer for the chassis. then have someone redo the entire rewiring on the car. then slam the body on the chassis and put the stuff back on! but ALOT of the stuff needs redone. like the bumpers need rechromed. just to stip it down and get it ready to remove the rust will cost roughly $1,500 to $3,000. so i will keep you all informed. i will give pictures to some of you if i have any spare money so i can take some! she is a nice car but needs work to be brand new. but ille do it!

I would get it running first. Then, you can still go places. (Like, to buy parts?)
