so i thought it was the republicans who were the war mongers?
from what i understand of this bill it is nothing short of a declaration of war on iran minus actually declaring it.

what am i talking about you ask?

H.Con.Res. 362 and its IDENTICAL senate resolution S.Res. 580 (designed for quick passage)

these resolutions when passed will among other things authorize a naval blockade on iran which is in essence a act of war..

i dont understand why the only people standing up and voicing opposition to these resolutions are dennis kucinich and ron paul..

why isnt obama "mr diplomacy" voicing his opposition to this travesty??

wheres the outrage in the democratic party?

this resolution is expected to easily pass, there are already 169 co signers in congress and 32 in the senate..
WTF? have all our politicians lost there minds?? wait that was a rhetorical question.. ;)

this is what sanctions the resolution authorizes against a country that in the last year has had 9 surprise inspections of its nuclear program by the IEAE and NO EVIDENCE OF THEM BREAKING THE NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION TREATY IN ANY WAY HAS BEEN FOUND!!

    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=hc110-362

    • just what in the hell do you expect iran to do when these sanctions are imposed? how do you think the people that already hate us will react?
    • moreover these people are DEMANDING bush provoke iran!! dont these people realize what there doing??

when this resolution and its companion in the senate are passed,,the deaths of the starving women and children of iran will be on the hands of the democrats,, OBAMA included as well as the republicans!!

you die hard democrats should be outraged and on the phone to your congressman or woman..

      this is despicable!!!!

i ask again,,where is obamas outrage??

    I agree with you.

Not about Iran's nuclear program. They've had many meetings with Dr. Khan, Pakistan's nuclear birthgiver. They would not consult Dr. Khan for nuclear power. They're buying fissile material, and investing heavily in rocketry. It's a militant regime. I do believe they are seeking nuclear weapons.

But heavy economic sanctions are devestating to economic growth. I'd have to double check, but I'm pretty sure Iran has to import a lot of food as it is.

These aren't military sanctions, they are suggested economic sanctions. Starving a population of a rouge government into submiting to demands is not an acceptable strategy ever.

And you're right. A naval blockade is an act of war. This could be a move to provoke a war.

Minor correction- your post suggests (as do many media reports) erroneously that the Democratic Party "controls" congress. It's simply not true. They are still a minority in the Senate, and they don't have enough votes in the House to override a veto. Plus the federal bureaucracy is full of "loyal Bushies," and judges are overwhelmingly Republican, and Republicans control the Supreme Court.

This is still very much a one-Party state, and it's a mistake to pretend otherwise. Fix it on election day and you may have reason to complain about them, but now they have no more ability to change anything than you do.

Give me a break already! This is bipartisan treason. Put the koolaid down already and utilize whatever brain cells you have and come to the realization that it's BOTH PARTIES. Bush wouldn't have been able to achieve half of what he has without complicity from the Democrats. I am really sick of you left wing koolaid drinkers unable to see the forest for the trees. I mean, what is wrong with you people? Seriously. You are no better than the Republicans. Wake up out of your corporate media-induced slumber already!

to date there are 202 co signers in congress.. just because the democrats do not control the senate is no excuse to support this resolution overwhelmingly..
you seem to have a excuse for your parties bad behavior no matter what that behavior leads to..

it would seem that the democrats,,if they truly are against this resolution would at the very least not co sign on it by a overwhelming majority..

the fact is,,your party does support this resolution and therefore will be to blame equally for the deaths of innocent women and children in iran..

simply because you dont have enough votes for a override has never stopped the democrats from voting against something before..
    your just talking shit...

Time to vote them all out. I say no more career politicians. How many of them will become rich off all these wars? I want full disclosure, I want to know who owns what stock.

I have no false expectations of Obama, Hillary or McCain they are all tainted by the same interests.
