Either that or you just add the right amount of intelligence and some "out of the box thinking", combine them thoroughly, and watch the magic happen as you realize the search button is, HOLY SHIT RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME.

EDIT: To actually give an answer, I like the salt and high conc. iso alcohol.

I know it's not a great way to clean a pipe, but I just poured some vodka in it, covered up all the holes and shook it up for a while, then rinse and repeated about 4 times. Then I did the same thing with heavy duty dish soap. It didn't smell like smoke anymore, but it was still pretty dirty.

If you have a sink that runs really hot water (i know mine does) the heat really helps get the resin loose and should clean out a lot of the gunk. then just either leave it as is or get something that can reach into your peice and scrape the black resin and leftovers out

you all will probably think its gross and bad for you but ive used brake parts cleaner or starting fluid and mouthwash.

blast it with the brake cleaner or starting fluid.the shit will run out of the pipe and make a nasty smelly mess so make sure you do it over a drain or something.fill the pipe with it,cover the holes and shake it.do that 2 or 3 times till its clean.then rinse with lots of hot water.then rinse it with mouthwash and then hot water again.the brake cleaner and starting fluid wont leave any residue behind,it evaporates in seconds.the mouth wash leaves a little taste in it wich is the reason for rinsing with water.when youre done your pipe will look like new and it only takes about 5 minutes depending on how dirty the pipe is.brake parts cleaner comes with a straw that you can stick inside the pipe while giving it quick squirts.just make sure you dont aim it at your face while spraying it.you only need a little so a can should last a month or 2.

  8. Just please be sure to remember to FULLY RINSE your pipe after you used such chemicals.

I know a lot of people even give up when they are barely done getting the resin chunks out, meanwhile these chunks have been washed and marinated in the chemicals you all have mentioned. You don't want to be smoking anything but pot in your pipe.

So don't forget rinse with both hot and cold water after using cleaning agents! Don't half ass cleaning your pipe!

As for suggestions, I use 90% isopropyl alcohol (most supermarkets have it) and a shit ton of SALT, put it all in a zip lock bag and let sit for a while, then shake vigorously, keep doing this and eventually your pipe will be crystal clear like new.

Also, most those solutions sold at head shops are also just scented and colored salt/isopropyl, so don't fall for it...

    PEACE

the brake cleaner or starting fluid will get the chunks out in a hurry.the shit just liquifies when you spray the cleaner into it.plus the brake cleaner and starting fluid leave no residue at all.even if it soaked into the chunks it will evaporate out of it in seconds.thats why its used to clean brake rotors and pads cuz it leaves no residues behind.but yes rinse, rinse, rinse and rinse some more.

no chemicals required whatsoever. . . just boil it. works every time. i do it to a glass pipe, but it should also work with metal pipes just fine. do it a couple of time and use a pipe-cleaner a bit too if you really have to, it usually fine on it's own though.

Boil it in water (Water in a container in the microwave a few times) and just rinse it out a few times during the boiling, and then clean with rubbing alcohol and salt. Should clean out about anything, and for detail work use a paper clip or something.

    smoke a joint. :D

Should your piece be made of plastic and have glues holding it together. Solvents may ruin them and loosen the glues, next thing you know the bottom drops off while filled with dirty bong water.

@puffed up in my ford, You do know that tce is very bad for you to be breathing at any levels. Breakcleaner is the worst shit you can inhale.
I know its a heavy duty grease cutter and yes it gona clean that bong.
But inhaling that shit, well very bad for you.. As is absorbing it through the skin.. hope your doing that outside in fresh air and with gloves on..
