i really just think 2012 is gonna come and go like any other year. for fucks sake mayans could not predict the future no one can. i can make 30 bull shit predictions and people wont care about the 29 i miss theyll focus in on the one i got because more than anything people just want to believe, no matter if its justifiable or not. i think 2012 could be a year of change just as 2011, 2020 and 2008 could be as well. people take charge of your life. live your life. why wait for 2012 for something to magically happen, it wont. no something will only happen when we say enough as one people and raise our voices and take this planet back from the rich and the merciless. the year of change can come when ever u want it to, u just have to decide u want to and act.
Except, the Mayans had it down to a science buddy. Ofcourse, the future isn't set in stone, but this is a transition not an end.
^can i have examples? everybody keeps saying how accurate, ok, than lets hear those 5 examples. and did u even read my post about the transition? only u can make it happen not a mayan.
the mayan calendar has been held in high regard in scientific circles for a long time. many of the years mentioned were in fact dates that held severe significance for different cultures. after reading this article, I am more hopeful that humanity still has a chance. a bit of light and goodness would be nice right about now. as for no one being able to predict the future, well, that's not entirely accurate. Nostradamus spoke of signs that, in retrospect, could easily be connected to events that came to pass, such as world war 2. if one isn't inclined to believe in such supersticious mumbo-jumbo then that's fine. I can see why one would be skeptical. hell, I don't know why I'm not more skeptical myself. I think I just want to believe in a better future for mankind than *I* would predict looking at society today.
nostradamas was full of shit. he just said so many damd things that anything that happens, something he said can be found to corrispond to. the mayans were not, but their calender HAS ended. several times. as it does every 226 * 226 venusian years, or something like that. =^^= .../\...
Um, I think any intelligent individual should realize its not the end, but the beginning. Once one dies one is reborn. Thenmax or whatever, no, the mayan calender has not ended before. Two, what makes this event so substantial is because every 25,000 years our sun from the earth's perspective lines directly with the center of the galaxy. This the mayan's predicted would happen on December 21st, 2012. How can you explain the alien spaceships printed on the walls of many mayan buildings? Something is going to happen. I believe aliens will return to help us start a more perfect society (like star trek). Or, aliens will come to kill us all and only then will all the humans of planet earth rise to one noble cause to create a more perfect society. Either way, be there, macchu picu, December 20th. If your not I'd hate to say I told you so.
haha I hope aliens come and help us out. But not like star trek, I fucking hate that show! Anyway, I thought the world was already supposed to end in 2000. And then it was, "oh wait no...2001! thats when Its gonna end." Anyway, hope those aliens show us mercy!
Change Is...and so this 'reality ends every moment and is recreated every moment...but for most it just happens to them.
haha.. "in the future, someone will surely be killed" there. now im a prophet. an amazing one at that.
hm. aliens? I don't know. how about a massive spiritual awakening, every hippie's dream come true? no more war or hatred.
Out of every single person's opinion so far, you have made the most sense my friend. Every one of the "Great" Ancient civilizations have built ideas, concrete and abstract mind you, that have stumped even the most intelligent modern day scientist/philosophers. The Egyptians have hieroglyphics that do not show little green men, yet alien-like symbols. The Mayans the same. The Atlantic people (Atlantis), (if at one time were actually an advanced civilization), died and buried their secrets with them. Yet everyone who studies Atlantis is interested in it because of one central theme - it had alien technology for their time, which could be interpreted how you want). I have not taken many history classes or seen a lot on all this ancient civilizations, so please correct me if I'm wrong. I believe its very possible that the aliens came and helped for a while, hell, maybe even disguised as one of us. I also believe maybe they let a few civilizations in on their secret that they were alien and not of human specie. Maybe the aliens told all these guys that hey, we will be back in a year or two to check on you and make sure everything is okay. Now before you say, a year? Well, to an alien, years may seem like mere hours, give or take. So maybe they gave them the date Dec, 2012. Now many of you will say, but but but thats the end of the world so how does this link? Go research. From what I have, and have heard from the intelligent posters on here, the Mayans didn't say it was the end of the world. It was only the end of their calender and a GREAT ASTRONOMICAL EVENT. Put the clues together - the end of an age, which means a new age will usher in, and a great astronomical event which could easily be the alignment up of the galaxy blah blah blah, but it could also be interpreted as the aliens coming back. That could be their sign, their deadline. Maybe the aliens that helped all our civilizations before, may come back due to this event. Maybe this is the only way they are able to travel back to Earth, is through this event. Maybe thats how they got here before, was through an event similiar to this. Who knows, thats a little out there of an idea. I'm just curious as to see if they want to help us expand and become something rather than primitive cave animals. Or if they want some game to hunt. Before you say, wow thats rediculous and dumb. Don't we raise chickens just to cock fight them? Don't we have people who actually have animals set in a scene just so they can hunt them for fun? Don't we have kids get a collection of bugs and try to magnify them? The more challenging, the more fun right? So why is it impossible that the aliens are raising us to actually have some fun and in the end, give us our demise? Am I, and the poster I quoted being way to far fetched? Does this idea have any possible way of being true or at least intelligent?
Even if man vanishes it's not the end of the world. Man doesn't hold the high card, mother nature does.
Galactically speaking, why would the winter solstice, which is the point when the Earth begins to tilt the other way, have anything to do with the Milky way alighning with our Sun or anything else? The winter solstice is an event that effects the Earth and nothing else, so forgive me if the December 12 date seems a little.....biased?
Actually, now that I think about it, the winter solstice isn't really an event at all. It's just a point in the Earth's orbit around the sun, the point at which the North pole is furthest from the sun. It only has relevance from our perspective on Earth, and is certainly far too insignificant to affect cosmic radiations or whatever it was that was suggested in this theory. The likelihood of anything happening on this day as far as the galaxy is concerned, is 1 in 365.
I totally agree with alacasi, if you lookat history, nothing really happened, it was really spread out due to the uneducated minds. Once more people started popping up more flow of ideas and information. YOu look at year 1900 to 2000, so MUCH has happened in such a short time, the flow of information is causing this train to speed up. THe problem here is, we have no purpose, thats the flaw. Why are we having so many people on this planet. Why is our government so corrupt? These flaws were fuel for this train and now its simply going to get derailed. But I like(and dont like) the idea of aliens breeding us for sport. That will really wake this planet up and shake it around til its head explodes. I certainly HOPE AND PRAY TO GOD thats not the case but, you look at the middle east, we have these assholes who don't give a fuck about anything, and barbarians too. THere has to be millions of planets and species who travel around and destroy worlds at their will. Fucked up I know, the universe is hostile. What I tell you, enjoy the time you have now, apreciate every moment, don't take it for granted... for each sound...may be your last. i'd say your more of a lame prophet
god people can be stupid, and its like a dangerous kind of stupidity because no matter what, even in the face of logic and evidence, they continue believing. and they believe that they are stronger than us doubters cause we dont have faith. i find myself laughing out loud at the crap i read in this thread. who knows maybe u guys are right and im wrong, but for now im gonna hold off buying my tin foil hats and continue living my life normally.
this is something i believe WILL happen too, even if humanity has to be draged kicking and screaming backwards into it. but i don't believe its going to happen at the sound of the gong on some particular predictable day, only that it will have happened, prior to the passing of a thousand years from the year 1844. as for earth, sun and center of the universe lining up, i think that's really cool, but only as a sort of secondary witness to converging social and even material trends. people will give up on war when they're all starving, diseased, and can't affort anything better then sharpened sticks to poke each other's eyes out, and then realize what idiots the've ever been to want to fight wars in the first place, and like i said, i fully believe that WILL happen, and it WILL end war, and do a lot more positive then just ending war besides, and that things like running out of economically cheep oil, and colapse of major currencies and the disease and famine consiquences of abusing the environment that ARE all converging, will either bring this about through a lot of suffering, OR we could smarten up now and avoid a lot of the pain. it IS possible, very possible, that the 'smartining up proccess' well in a way it HAS already begun, but maybe 2012 it will reach some kind of critical mass or something, but whatever happens, i don't really see arbitrary dates and cosmic calanders as having all that much to do with it. but i do see very real and existing trends as doing so, as well as doing a lot of less pleasant things at the same time along the way, if we don't smarten up collectively a bit first. also the point about nature holding the high card, even if we do as a species manage to commit total mass species suicide i agree with too. as a species we have too much collective ego for our own good, just as much as we do individually. but i don't think we're gonna manage to kill ALL of ourselves off entirely, just that a "day" of massive population IMplosion remains among the real possibilities, damd near an inevitablity. just that it doesn't HAVE to happen through famine, and disease, which are more likely then war on that scale, though even that is not ruled out. we COULD instead, drastically reduce ALL human FERTILITY accross the board, without bias on exception, and that COULD signifigantly reduce the pain and its duration that we're currently inflicting on our future selves with all this business of population increasing times the use of combustion to generate energy and propell transportation. it might get to be where its a real close thing though, just again, not all at once in one day, or year or even decade. =^^= .../\...
