I've never had a tattoo, but I plan on getting myself one for my 18th birthday. I want it on my arm or back, but relatively inconspicuous. I want to make the design myself, but I need some ideas. Does anyone have their own tattoos or designs to help out?
I want writing I think, maybe in a different language, like scripture written in Hebrew or something.
Right. Plus your own design can be pretty cool but I'd recommend you to talk about it with your tattoo artist. As I know some of them (of course not american ones) they're all cool people who can make a brilliant tattoo out of your idea...
if your doing it yourself those are always pretty cool but make sure you know the skill of the artist doing it because if it is complex they may not be able to do it or it wont look that good as for a writing if your going to do another language make sure you get a very accurate translation because the sentence structure could be very different iv seen some kenji tats that were suppose to say loved by god and simillar ones but the sentence structure turned it into damned by god so jus be careful with that.... PS ambiagrams are cool read em one way and turn upside down they say something else
I'm not going to give you ideas but I'll tell you my story (dont read if you dont care)...So when i was about to turn 18 all my best friends were like lets go get tattoos, I was kinda bleh on the subject, my dads Jewish (tattoos in the Jewish tradition don't go over so well) so that was the primary reason for my hesitation along with the fact that i had no idea what i wanted. A little over a year later I had an amazing night full of epiphanies and i found religion, i mean sort of. I understand things about myself and place in the world that really won't make sense to anyone else. I created a symbol involving two shapes. I was hesitant at first, but this is real, so I waited only two days before getting this permanently put on my body. The artist was amazing he worked with me so that the symbol was perfect. I never wanted a tattoo, but when this idea hit me I realized this was it. Its on my left wrist opposite palm side. I love it...i mean i feel very strongly about tattoos, moreso than most probably. But I think it needs to speak to you, needs to pop in, and shouldn't be all that generic. I have been contemplating my second one for about a year now, still not sure whether or not I'll ever get it, I just don't know where on my body it should go. Just give it serious thought and remember (sorry im being a parent) it will be with you forever, so dont do it out of a whim because your 18...good luck i hope you find something perfect!
This is the Tool Third eye. Its by my armpit. It has ten colors in it. I have to say i think that alot of color is beautiful as to this one i have on the back of my neck. The best thing i could say is get something you enjoy and something that really is you. Not something youll look back on an say WTF WAS I THINKING!
Yeah, I made out a design for my whole back the other night, I'll have to up load it. There are wings and some other ideas, and a square of numbers that would be pi and the symbol in the middle. I think to get things with meanings I'll have to put off any writing until I have good things to write.
lol Good story. I'd like something like that as well, I don't turn 18 for about 6 months which is why I'm starting to think now. You should take a picture as well, that sounds really cool.
My first tattoo meant a lot to me at the time. It's not so important to me anymore, same with a few other ones. But I don't regret them AT ALL. For me, If I get a tattoo say when I'm 18 and when I'm 25 it's not as important it just show a part of my life. If it was important to you at one point in your life why not represent it? Of course not everyone thinks like I do.I live in the moment and don't always think about the future (not the best thing to do most times) but it signifies that moment in my life and I love all of my tattoos. Basically the point is make it something that you love. Sorry about my rant.
No that's fine. People have told me to watch out because the might end up reminding me of how stupid I was later on, or that tattoos are weird on old people lol I planned on being a crazy old person anyway so that's okay
first of all don't get a generic tatoo (tribal or stars or somthing).. those are VERY lame. && if you're smart you will get one without color.. seeing as those stay classy a lot longer (all of the good tatoo artist i've talked to will readily admit to this)
Absolutely, both part of my plan. the only color I was considering is if i got something like a branch of flowers or koy that it might have http://farm1.static.flickr.com/23/25590334_9b6976d20a.jpg Somethings like this would be okay with color for example.
I definitely agree with everyone who said have it mean something to you. that's my first tattoo, I want to get another just as soon as I can afford it, and find an artist I like. I got that one in sort of a henna color, which I really like, but the ink didn't take in some spots, and I really need to get it re-done. The most important thing I think is finding an artist that you really like. I felt very rushed by the guy who did mine, things like this take time, it's going to be on your body for the rest of your life, you have time to think about it Good luck!
Another question: Has anyone had a tattoo stretch from pregnancy or weight gain or lose? My sister just ranted about the cherry tattoo I posted and what would happen if I had kids
Oh, pretty thanks My friend was telling me that that's the most painful place to get a tattoo, is that true?
actually your side on the rib cage is......ive seen grown men bawl there eyes out getting it done there
Ooo, oh yeah, I had a friend get a treble clef on his ribs, he said he cried and had to bite something the whole time
