Hey I live in Northern Virginia and i've been looking for magic shrooms. I'm going to be staying on a cattle farm in Washington state this summer, in a valley and lots of cow manure on the ground. Do you think i'll find anything at the farm? and where can i find shrooms in northern va?
If you're not experienced in mycology don't go eating random mushrooms you find; that's just asking to become extremely sick or worse. The only safe way is to grow your own and to a lesser extent find people who have them.
a fellow virginian.. dont waste your time searching in NOVA for active mushrooms. In my experience, the only actives that you will have much luck finding in virginia are psilocybe cubensis in SE VA (rarely), potentially bluefoot in the ohio river watershed, and panaelous subbaleatus (which are found pretty much everyone in well fertilized lawns). My guess is you will have an extremely rough time searching for the kind of mushrooms you are looking for. You'd be much, much better off saving up about 100 dollars and starting your own mushroom grow. It's easy to acquire all of the start-up materials, and fairly easy to understand provided you invest the time and energy into learning how to properly cultivate them. Then, when you start producing quantities of mushrooms, you can have as much as needed for yourself and your friends, and enough to sell and make back your investment in short order. Oh, and shroomery.org is your new best friend.
oh, and Washington State is a whole other matter... massive amounts of several different species of active mushrooms grow abundantly in washington. you will have much more luck there than in virginia finding mushrooms growing wildly. familiarize yourself with shroomery, for real.
