I have heard that there a couple films based on the life of Pablo Escobar, that are in production. One is "Killing Pablo", the other "Escobar" supposed to be out in late 2008-2009. Not sure how much they delve into the smuggling aspects, but as far as drug kingpins go, you can't get much more infamous than him.
there is a new HBO documentary called "Ganja Queen" about the trial of that Shappelle Corby woman from Australia who was allegedly attempting to import marijuana in a bodyboard bag into Indonesia. I just watched it yesterday and it's pretty crazy. Basically, she was spared the death penalty (crazy punishments in Indonesia) and given 20 years instead...with 2 failing appeals. It's a pretty sad story, especially considering that a gang of drug smugglers working as airport baggage handlers were all convicted of using others' bags for similar purposes at the same airports through which she travelled. Again, maybe not what you're looking for, but an interesting look at one of the world's most controversial drug cases at the moment.
