Reagan deserves just a little credit. Very damned little. The fall of the USSR was due primarily to the fact that a socialist dictatorship simply doesn't work well as a form of economy/government. Also, with the advent of computers, satellite communications, online BBS's, the Soviet government could no longer portray all Europeans as a war-crazed, violent army of Nazis. Especially while the people of The West were holding the largest peace demonstrations in human history (thanks to Reagan's senile rants!). Their bluff was exposed, and in a big way. For the first time, the people of the USSR could see for themselves that Europeans were not a threat at all, and that they'd been lied to by their leaders when warned constantly of an imminent invasion by hordes of drunken Frenchmen. And that spelled the end.
