So, long story short, my friend found some mushrooms that were taken from him 3 years ago. They were stored in his garage inside 2 bags and kept there for 3 years until he stumbled upon them last week. Do you think they're edible? They look fine (dont appear to have any mold or other fungi growing on them), and smell pretty bad, but mushrooms generally do. A response from anyone knowledgeable on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
Psilocybin breaks down in air. I have my doubts about any potency since they were stored in plastic bags. But, you never know. x
No, psilocin breaks down in air, not psilocybin. This one page on the shroomery says that psilocybin is very hardy and these 115 year old mushrooms or something still had active psilocybin, ill try to find the link and post it, if not well im 100% sure i read that there so yeah, theyll be fine as long as theres no mold and shit.
Well to find the page i typed in the key words in google and found the psilocybin mushroom faq on the shroomery but im too lazy to find where it is in the faq. Well heres the google page that shows the results- http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=shroomery+psilocybin+115+years&btnG=Search&meta=
How do they smell bad? Just mushroomy bad, or do they smell like something else? If it doesn't smell like mushrooms, they might be moldy.
well you should tell your friend that just to be safe he should let you eat an 8th thats what a real friend would do saftey first.
