Why on earth is Sunday deemed a "special" day? It is supposed to be a day of rest. But, some people have the misfortune to have to work on a Sunday. It is becoming a day just like any other, but services do not work on a Sunday. a horrible shortfall in public trust. So, we then have to deal with no buses, hardly anything open and the reality that we have to function on this day, like it is any other day of the week. I had to walk for TWO FUCKING HOURS because the buses do not run on a Sunday. Fuck Sundays I say, treat them like any other day of the week and provide the services that we have come to expect any other day of the week.
It's mainly government jobs that are guaranteed off on Sunday. Mail, buses, city-county buildings etc
Sunday? Sunday they call it! What is so sunny about it? I saw no sun today. Bollocks to the weather on sundays, in fact bollocks to the weather this summer so far it's been SHITE.
I am with you. I am setting at working blogging because none of my staff is even here on Sunday. Why is it that I have a schedule when I have no staff to supervise? Now they are paying me to sit around and hang out on the web. I am so glad that I found this site.
Just get really drunk on the night before and call off sick. F the bus. You have the right to call off sick. Peace
uh, yeah, I think it's pretty safe to say that I do treat Sundays like every other day.. Well, except Sundays are my days where I sit around and praise myself...
oh, this terrible need to separate and label days. I love every day of my life equally, and I am always a tad happier when I don't know what day it is.
i find it illogical that anyone is more rested or spiritual either, if they have to drive or bum rides in a personal vehicule because public transit and other public services are reduced or curtailed on a particular day of the week, or even that any holyday is made more festive or celibratory by the same proceedure. granted people who normal provide such services out to be somehow enabled to enjoy or get in on the celebrations. but maybe that's one good reason for having a multitude of different religeons which have different days of rest, so that people can have off on those days that are of their own belief while those who'se beliefs take other days off can continue to provide those services. and then have THEIR days off! to be fair of course, EVERY belief has to be allowed to/granted, not just whichever one happens to be the most dominant. i've always enjoyed and prefered jobs where my own days off fell in the middle of the week when everything else was running and available. (and everyone else and their cousin wasn't competing to consume the same services!) =^^= .../\...
Sunday is just the same as any other day, with the absence of all the commercial bullshit and 9-5 work culture.
would be could be should be, if reduced transit services and stores being closed didn't prevent it from being and screw it otherwise up. for that matter why have a seven day week at all? i mean i know that the seven days are a quarter of the lunar cycle and that's the real reason we have it, and some things ARE good to cynchronize with it, but a six day week, four work days and two days off, with every third weekend being a 3 day, would equal 19 days, and the magical thing about 19 days, is that you could then have the same number of days in a month as months in a year, with four days left over, five in leap years, for a big intercallery holyday. (yes you could also, have a calender of 13 months, with every month being an actual lunar cycle and adjust each year what would be the first day of all months that year to coincide with it. well if seven devides equally into 28, well then the four times it does does also, so you could have seven four day weeks too. we just get so DAMD hung up on what we're familiar with, just because we are and the supposed convininece of perpetuating it for no other nor better reason then that we are) =^^= .../\...
Damn and blast those 5 day working weeks. I think we should all work 3 and a half days per week. The world has changed, people now want to enjoy their lives half of the time.
A couple of sundays ago it took me 3 hours to hitch home because traffic was so bad i stopped to have a little spliff and chill out in the woods for a while. Walked the last hour of the journey. Hitching is crap on sundays because drivers are like "No giving lifts today ... it's sunday!" ... I would have actually got a bus if there had been one. Work is good on sundays though ... i work in a cookery school and the class and chefs and everyone just wanna have a good time, cook some ace food and drink some wine. No bosses around and it's always relaxed.
no reason we couldn't either, half the crap that people do, "have to" do (to pay the rent and whatever else the're conned into indenturing themselves to), is just makework to keep up bullshit appearances. that's why a lot of things that might otherwise be fun or useful to have, are worth living without to avoid having to be indentured to. for me that includes cable, broadband, credit cards, cell phones, an automobile, pretty much everything other then trains, computers and books, and of course food and shelter. not that i can see much fun in credit cards or cell phones either, nor really any of that crap other then maybe broadband and a nice little cargo type minivan with heavy duty suspension to go camping with. i do seem to be getting alone alright just fine without those either though. =^^= .../\...
