There are good horse people who know how to handle mares and gelding but don't know a thing about how to handle a stallion. It takes a special understanding of what motivates these horses to safely keep them. When you combine a total ignorance of horses with the naturally strong-willed disposition of a stallion, you have a disaster waiting to happen.
I agree and I don't, yes some stallions are hot headed and take more expierence then other horses, and some stallions I've come across are total sweethearts. I think it does come down to horse individual personalities.
I've known many a nasty horse....some geldings who would tear me apart when I went into their stalls and some stallions who were just oversized teddy bears. It takes a special person who has lots of experience to handle horses with "issues." It really doesn't matter whether they are mare, gelding or stallion. But I agree that "studdy" stallions need to be handled with expert care.
