Like the topic says, how much will I be able to smoke in Amsterdam? I'm in the UK right now, and I've been smoking a bowl or a blunt every few days now, so my tolerance is still there, but its pretty weak. Up until 2 weeks ago I was smoking literally every day, about 3g or so a day. Will I be really really fucked up and tripping? How much will I be able to smoke? 1 gram? 2? 3? I'd like to try a lot of bud, and money's not an issue (or the supply of weed, they have plenty in Amsterdam I've heard ), but will I just have to say no after the first few bowls? If it makes any difference, before I left I wouldn't touch anything lower than dank. I was smoking mostly headies and kush.
You are going to hit a limit after which you will just get more "stoned" rather than more "high", at which point smoking any weed is pretty much a waste, especially Amsterdam dank. I personally would recommend doing 1 session with 1 type of dank every day, switch between primarily sativa and primarily indica and that will keep it very interesting and tolerance will not be more of an issue than it is with you now. I would also recommend taking a break from weed 1 week before going there so you can get destroyed. How many days you gonna be there?
If you have a good tolerance then I would expect you to be fine... strong edibles tend to ruin entire days for me if I'm already smoking, I'd stay away from those personally...
How do you like the UK??? And where abouts are you??? Also, I hear in Amsterdam, they are planning on introducing a new law in which you can not put tobacco in your joints. Don't ask why.
There is actually a cap on how stoned you can get where smoking anymore weed is a waste. I encourage you to do more than just get high. Check out some of the city while you're there. I would stay clear of the red light district. Eurotrip is probably partially true with what happened.
I read about this just today. I believe the reasoning behind the law is that most non-smokers are whiney bitches. (I'm joking, but still find that to be true) Seriously though... first no smoking in restaurants, then cigar bars, then no smoking in regular bars, now no smoking in smoking cafes... talk about the end of our freedom to choose for ourselves...
Its an extention of the no tobacco smoking, I've heard that pure joints, while not Euopean style, are OK to smoke in the cafes. POVx, write back and let us know how it went. (IMO, saying "no more, thanks" is another way of saying "I control my desires, not the reverse." It's a proud statement, not a shameful one.)
i would recommend just having a couple of joints and walking around dam square and the red light district and just soak up the city vibes. then stop off at a cafe and have another and if you get too stoned eat something sweet from a dutch bakery like chocolate covered waffles or something, amazing munchies
you cant stay clear of the red light district, unless you mean stay clear of the hookers lol you have to see it, its a tourist attraction. my girlfriend and i went walking along there every night, you have to pass it at some point if you want to go to the good coffee shops
If you find Grey Area, then yes the weed will destroy you, but in a good way One bong you'll be flying.
You can easily stay clear of the RLD- Amsterdam is bigger than the Grachtengordel which most tourists never venture out of. No good coffeeshops I know of have to be got to via the RLD, except maybe The Coin on Warmoestraat- good menu but I dislike the ambiance.. Greenhouse centrum too but it's pretty touristy and expensive... In fact, most of the places that pop into my head when someone says 'good coffeeshops' are nowhere near the RLD.. Yeah, if you've never been to Amsterdam check it out on a friday or saturday night when it's really buzzing, it's an experience and definitely worth seeing once but otherwise it's nasty and full of nasty people. From the lowlife junkies pushing fake drugs on the corners to the pickpockets, the pimps to the horrible tourist groups of drunk obnoxious english and wide eyed americans. Nasty sex shows and their rude hustlers and shit tourist coffeeshops and bars. Best avoided IMO.
The RLD is jokes to walk around blazed, it's always busy and filled with a variety of people as well as beautiful ladies, nothing wrong with that
Shithead tourists and junkies. And pimps. And the only dutch people anywhere near there are working. Great variety. It's a shithole, like I said- an interesting phenomenon to see but it's not a nice place to hang out. It's for people who don't really know Amsterdam, nasty british skinheads who want to drink and fuck prostitutes and american teenagers who are completely blown away by the fact you can smoke a joint and not be arrested- LIEK OMG MAN POTS LIEK LEGAL HERE 420 DOOD IM MOVIN TO AMSTERDAM.. Big deal, there's so many more nice places to go in that city I don't know why anyone would want to get ripped off there...
You smoke weed? You're so stereotypically judgemental, burn one down or get laid man.. There's no reason to avoid the place except if you believe the scaremongering, keep to yourself and ignore the junkies if you go.
I smoke weed, yes, since you were about 6. And I don't need to pay to get laid , another reason I don't frequent the RLD. If you like it then fine, enjoy it. It's nothing to do with scaremongering, personally I feel the place is nasty, tacky, touristy, a rip off and full of lowlifes. If that's your idea of fun then whatever... Just so many nicer places to go in the city and I think you'd find 99.9% of dutch people agree, none of my friends who live in Amsterdam (many nationalities) ever spend any time there whatsoever... We'll agree to disagree peace
Well no one needs to pay to get laid because sex isn't necessary. It's a choice. Sometimes people can't be bothered to put up with the chase and just go for something easy. I agree with you that there are many nicer places to frequent however i think it's worth a visit and should be judged individually by people, based on experiance, not hear say. Ofcourse there are pimps and crack heads, but they have those in every country. I enjoy the rld, i'm not ashamed, for a lot of people it provides wealth, happiness, freedom and tolerance and a chance to do something perhaps they can't in their normal lives. It's easy to look at something negatively, my point is that there are both positive and negative sides to the rld, as well as cannabis one could argue. Anyway, i didn't mean to come off argumentative or as a dick, take it easy. Peace
