for gentle stimulation (not as intense as mate or coffee) i make a tea from ginkgo, gotu kola, & peppermint....all good mild nervous system stimulants. plus, ginkgo & gotu kola when combined are a great brain tonic & excellent for studying or improving memory
yeah, i second this....green drinks are the best! if you don't have a juicer, you can buy odwalla or something similar. i do this when traveling
I think Chai tea is one of the closest drinks you can get to coffee without drinking coffee. The smell of coffee has always made me want to vomit... but you can get Chai lattes at most coffeehouses and they're *delicious*... really spicy and nice. Also, Naked juice (or smoothies... whatever they are) are really delicious and you can pick them up at grocery stores. They're good for energy and they taste like liquefied fresh fruit.
LMAO!!!!! THAT totally made my morning!!! I think coffee is actually a good thing to have, just not every morning like us crazy north americans! Buut, if you wanna avoid the coffee route, I would say tea is the next best answer. Tea has more caffeine than coffee or espresso, but because of the way its treated before consumption, you don't get jittery or burn out because your body is continually absorbing it throughout the day. This is why many cultures prefer tea to any other drink. Black tea has the most caffeine, so drinking black tea is most comparable to drinking coffee, because on an empty stomach, black tea will give you jitters. White tea is next with slightly less caffeine. White tea is in actuality the same leaf used for hojicha (regular) green tea only it's less processed, so not only do you get more caffeine, but more antioxidants. This tea was saved mostly for royalty back in the day (which was a wednesday) Green tea has less caffeine, as well as antioxidant properties its the most docile of caffinated drinks. Many people prefer green tea because of its popularity in the dieting world, and most people go with what they know. It's not a drink that will wake you up at 5 in the morning, for which I would reccomend black tea.
