Vice Presidents are not big in Congress. What the hell? I don't even know how somebody comes up with that. The Vice President is president of the Senate but that is mostly a figurehead post as they do nothing but cast tiebreak votes. Right under Pelosi? Uhhh no. Pelosi is in the House of Representatives, The VP is president of the Senate.

Pelosi is the Speaker of the House, not just a member of the house. Second in line of succession, if only George and Dick would drop.
Right the VP only votes to break a tie, but you have to remember who is in our congress. Yes, the dems are the majority, but still so many vote republican. A true democratic VP would help the revolution. And the president has no power without congress, how could you even begin to say congress doesn't do shit? They are the ones who tax, regulate commerce, raise military forces, declare war (!). And hell, they even have the right to make any law that is "necessary and proper" to execute their powers. So, please please tell me how you manage to live above the rule of our congress? Seriously, I'm interested. I really want to know.
Actually rereading your statement, Congress hasn't done anything in the last 40 years that you approve of? Or do the several situations you mentioned on google really wrap it up for you?

Obviously Congress "doesn't do shit" was a little hyperbolic if you couldn't tell. Because obviously they do things. OK now that we're all clear that Congress actually does things I'll move on. Unless we need more time on this.

You act as if I'm stating opinion and not fact. Congress declares war? Yeah. In the Constitution. As I said earlier with Presidents Johnson, Nixon, and W. Bush the executive branch has grown to levels that only Hamilton would find exciting or good for our country. Because Congress declared war on Vietnam? Laos? Cambodia? Grenada? Korea? Nicaragua? Iraq? Afganistan? Panama? Congress doesn't declare war anymore. All the President has to do ask for authorization based on legislation previously created and he can have his war.

Just another example of how the executive office has grown too powerful. You really think Karl Rove will ever show up now that he's been subpoenaed? Executive privilege, baby. Same thing Nixon tried to hide under. It's pathetic watching Congress try to get at Rove over the last two days. He will walk scotch-free because of his connections to the executive office.

There'sa reason why Congress is consistently around <30% approval rating over the last few decades regardless of party-control. Because they are either puppets of the President (Bush's first 6 years) or essentially lame-ducks (the last two years).

I'm not even going to bother arguing this because the initial statement I responded to was dumb and juvenile to begin with. It was some comment from some idiot who thinks Obama will be assassinated in a month if he's president. I'm just saying what has been there to stop potential assassins in the last 16 months? He's been protected by Secret Service the last 16 months and will continue to be protected by them the next 8.
