Is it really worth it to take X at raves? I haven't been to any but plan to go to some soon but I am debating whether or not I should roll? I do smoke bud and drink, but besides that I haven't tried anything else? Is it really necessary to have a good rave experience, or can you have a good night without it?

you can have a good night, sure. but self-dissolution, group mind, energy waves, etc. come easier with the E. depends on who u are, it might be weird to be at one sober. if you do take e, avoid the alcohol. The existence of raves started b/c of E. it was the reagan kids' answer to the 60's. I'd compare going to a rave without E to doing homework at a comedy club :)

no no no no!!!!!!!!!! this is so wrong. extacy enhances the raver experience. the rave scene is about the music and its power to move your soul. the druggies who made the rave scene seem like a smorgasbord of drugs gave us true ravers a bad name. I say dont take extacy for the first time at your first rave because the ambiance can be a bit hindering, consider the genre of music at the particular rave. something trancy and trippy would be fine, but say a hardhouse or drum and bass party would be too much and could ruin your roll. for the first time roll with close friends in a safe cushy environment. there's nothing better than a warm fuzzy bed. but yes, avoid the alcohol. stick with water, oj and lots of weed for a cushy comdown.

naturally there's more to it than the drug, but the elements of rave wouldn't be the way they are without E. what's with the absolutism? true ravers on one hand and druggies on the other...I think most meet halfway. Hey if you can achieve on your own what others would need E to do, congrats and enjoy. It was hard to see how your post was contrary to mine. He was talking about whether it's worth it to take E at raves, not what he should do for his first roll. If that had been his question I wouldn't have suggested to go to a rave either. I always prefer a more intimate setting with few numbers.
edit: also hilder if you based anything off my comment about it being similar to homework at a comedy club; i's just being a dork there. looking at it, it does undermine the spirit of the rave. erp

saying raves aren't about mdma is like saying psychedellic 60's rock isn't about lsd

which... of course neither of the music scenes are about the drug... but to seperate the two and make it seem like mdma was something which invaded and lowered the quality of raves... thats just a little absurd

No it's not ABOUT the drug, but to deny the drugs role in the whole thing? Whats so wrong with noting rave culture as a development of MDMA anyways? Pretty much every new radical style of art can thank some substance which varied from the norm.

With that, I'd say definanetly roll at your first rave. I went to a rave before on marijuana, was interesting. I sat back and watched most of time. Went to another rave, got myself drunk, did some dancing and enjoyed it more. But came out of it just like another drunken dancing night. Went to the third rave, got on some good pills, THEN it made sense why everything was the way it was and why people were doing why they were doing. Before I was just intrigued, found it interesting, enjoyed the music. Not until I did it on MDMA did the whole thing actually make complete sense inside and out.

Honestly, you more old-skool ravers who have done mdma a number of times, gone to lots of raves. I think you have forgotten what it's like to view the whole thing before you did it on mdma.

But make sure you really like the music thats gonna be their. Honestly, it'd be worth it to wait till you could see a DJ you really liked. If you don't like the music, you might not enjoy it. Personally though, the first time on MDMA, I don't think anyone could go wrong with euphoric trance. Armin Van Buuren, Above and Beyond, Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto... Being in the middle of the dance floor of a really good trance DJ is probably the best place to take MDMA your first time. Your surrounded by people who are on the drug, all being guided by the music, who all understand. You'll pick up on their energy.
