I feel that some of my dreads are getting too dry. Is there something I can soak them in or put on that will make them feel better? I'm just scared that they will start to break.....that can happen right?

That's my problem too, I just use some coconut oil once in a while, it smells very nice :p and I also use conditioners, but it's up to you if you want to use that.

I would suggest aloe, plants are always nice to have around the house with their good energy and all. And then the juice from aloe would be conditioning without over conditioning, and be very easy to wash out after.

My dreads became really dry at one point last winter... to the point that I actually purchased an all-natural conditioner. I conditioned them once a month for about 2-3 months. They became quite frizzy for a couple of weeks after the conditioning, but it definitely made them softer and I was able to eventually stop the treatments.

Now I just apply 99% pure aloe, as needed, to upkeep. If your dreads are tight enough, it wouldn't be detrimental to condition them a bit to prevent future breakage. Especially if your dreads are on the thin side like mine (obviously, thin dreads break easier). I wouldn't hesitate to do that again if my dreads start to become really dry again.
