Everytime im on hipforums, or even anytime im on the computer, im always sitting down with either my guitar or keyboard on my lap learning songs or soloing over internet radio lol. Atm ive been learning Bach's Toccata and Fugue What about you?
I've been working on Bouree on the guitar, and Fur Elise on the piano. "Working on" being a relative term, meaning I've learned part of each and plan on learning the rest eventually.
i learning both "box of rain"(grateful dead) and "bouncing around the room"(phish) on my mandolin. i can play the chord progressions of box of rain, but i always forget what order they go in. and bouncing around the room is still a work in progress. i can play it reading the music but i can never remember it. i have an extreemly bad memory. if i dont play every song i know every day i start to forget what songs i know, and how to play them. so it limits my learning new song time. i spend about 2 hours a day on the mondolin.
I improvise alot, (90% of the time) but I'm also learning some Dream Theater on the side... today I tried to learn New Millenium by ear, (just the riffs, not the solos, they are way to fucking fast!!!).
I found out a great bassline for one the songs of my band so now I'm trying to memorize it before I forget it.
Working on learning some New Riders of the Purple Sage stuff on lap steel guitar. Right now, I'm practising "Last Lonely Eagle."
Last song I was learning was Op 47 No 1, Granada by Isaac Albéniz. That was before my strings broke. Now Im waiting for new strings to tackle Op 31 No 19 in A by Fernando Sor. God bless -
