Hey I'm about to start my first grow in my approx 4x2x3 (feet) growbox/closet. I'll probably be growing only one Lowryder or Lowryder 2 plant at a time in there. I have all the basic equipment already installed and the box is well hidden and light-proofed. My only worry now is the smell as I have heard that Lowryder isn't exactly an odourless strain I have been looking at a standalone carbon filter on ebay which I think might the solution (it can be found here). I have also heard that ozone generators are effective (is this true?). I have taken a look at various generators online and the only ones within my budget are these plug-in ones. I'm wondering what you think of these two options (since they're both around £50 price is not a factor), which will be more effective? Are there any cheaper, equally effective alternatives (since I'm only growing one plant at a time, hardly a world class grow-op) thanks
Carbon filter, all the way. Ozone is hazardous to all forms of life, if you can smell it--chances are it is oxidizing your lungs. Ozone is best used in the exhaust line just before it goes outside so no ozone reaches you or your plants. It is a good idea for larger grows, for yours stick with the carby. The eBay carbon filters are a risk, they aren't made by people with industrial equipment. If you think they don't need industrial equipment, remember that professional made carbon filters are settled with an industrial shaker--packing the carbon in tight as possible as not to form preferential channels and lose odor eliminating capabilities. HTGsupply.com has a nice 4" carbon filter with inline fan combo for 139.95US (about 70GBP). It would work well for the size of grow you are doing. Good luck, gokey! -ZB
I totally agree with zoomboom here. Carbon filtration all the way, especially for a small single plant grow...screw ozone...the health risks are just not worth playing with
thanks for your help guys ordered myself a 4" setup similar to the one you described from a UK site. Put the seeds in for germination today! The grow has begun...
